Albinos of the animal kingdom

Does being completely white make them less cute?

On the contrary, unlike albino humans I think these critters are even cuter than their “custom” colored kin. It’s clear that animals aren’t protected from genetic anomalies any more than people are, but at least most of them are not discriminating. If you’re interested, read more about the albino croc and the albino moose.

  1. kirse says:

The peacock is not albino, it is naturally white, like the white swan e.g.. So it is not a genetically mistake!

  2. Anon says:

    The gorilla is photoshopped.

  3. Charlie says:

Alot of these animals are actually LEUSISTIC, not Albinos. Albinos lack all black pigments and thus have pink eyes. Many of these pics show black eyes.

I’m pretty sure the white alligator is also naturally white.

Michael Jackson is also naturally white.

  15. the squirrel is the best!

  16. elnota says:

the gorilla isn’t photoshopped, try search “copito de nieve” in google.

  17. Bob Holness says:

We had two or three albino squirrels in the trees at my school when I grew up. Fantastic to see.

I wonder if albinoism is nature’s way of getting through periods in history where little sunlight reaches the earth’s surface, i.e. during meteorite crashes, volcanoes, &c.

  18. Me says:

The gorila was real. Not photoshop.
It was in Barcelona´s zoo. Was the alpha male of the group there and his name was “copito de nieve” meaning snow flake.

  19. Paul C. Brown says:

The gorilla is most definitely not photoshopped. His name was “Copito de Nieve” (“Little Snowflake”) and lived at Barcelona Zoo until he died a vew years ago.

    See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copito_de_Nieve.

    Paul

  20. franz says:

That’s the gorilla I saw the original Star Trek, they must have cut the horns off.

  21. Barcelona says:

The gorilla is named “Floquet de Neu” and it means “Little Snowflake”. He was a very big star in the zoo of Barcelona last century.

  24. subcorpus says:

    what about cats …
    white cats … ???
    not albino … ???
    come on …

  25. I’d like to know the survival rate for these type of animals.

  26. Stone says:

As far as I can tell the only non albino animal in the list is the peacock. If you look it up the White Peacock is a rare version of the Indian Peacock, but it is not an albino mutation. The ape is real, the alligator is also real. no photoshopping in any of these pics. The white whale would be awesome to get to see though.

    “There be Moby Dick!”

  27. Lidia Key says:

  28. Lee says:

if you think this is freaky, one time i saw an albino spider. i also saw an albino starfish. super super super super super super rare.

  29. Hayvanlar says:

    beatiful animals

  30. Vanessa says:

    That penguin is hella cute!!!

  31. Katrina says:

    The snake is gross!! Yuck..discusting!

  32. Shawn says:

That burmese python and several of the other animals up there are leusistic, not albino. The peacock is a naturally occuring color phase, not a mutation. Albinos have red eyes, dark eyed whites are either color phases or lesustic, most leusistic creatures have clear nails and hair, so are very obvious. An albino burmese python is actually orange and white, no where near the snow white snake in the picture. Only a leusistic snake is completely solid white and is a herp collectors dream snake. Not everything that is white is albino.

  33. Shawn says:

Also, im pretty sure people suffering from albinism are pretty damn offended by that opening line. What difference does it make what color they are?

  34. jim says:

    your mom’s the best

  35. Jose says:

The gorilla is… or was, Copito de Nieve.

  36. WRONG says:

are you blind? most of these pics show bright pink eyes

  37. Dude says:

I’m very familiar with Photoshop, and i can tell you – it’s not. But it might be a suit with man inside :D

  38. Alissa says:

Very true Shawn! I’d love to have a leusistic snake! That Burmese is BEAUTIFUL!!!

  39. fuck off says:

younguys r fuck headz ha ha ha

  40. REAL says:

Yes all of these animals are albino!

  41. lorlord says:

Yeah wow that opening line was a little harsh.
Albino people are cute too i bet!
and regardless of whether or not they’re ALL albino, they’re all beautiful.
    EXCEPT THAT LAST ONE.
i don’t like how he looks at me..
    also, the least impressive V_V.

  42. mrs. ruiz says:

the pictures are cool, but im wondering if anyone has seen and/or heard of an ALBINO, not “white”, but an albino WOLF….

for lo, i have searched til’ i am blue in the face and still cannot find one T_T

  43. tango says:

the snake is the most suprising, i’ve never thought of something like that before

  44. magicboa says:

The python is leucistic, not albino. (S)he is very beautiful. I have a Texas rat snake who also is leucistic. Albinism & leucism are often confused. Albinos of any species have no melanin whatsoever.

  45. magicboa says:

How about a gallery of MELANISTIC creatures?

  46. Dorothea Bozicolona Volpe says:

I wonder if each and every one of these animals are albinos. I have a feeling not.

  47. omfg!!! finally some one who loves wolves too..srry lil spazy
any way all r soooo cool!!!!!!! also im not givin up on an albino wolfie!!!
