Buck naked in Austria

1,800 people got naked last month, just before the start of Euro 2008 Soccer Championship, on an Austrian stadium, for American photographer Spencer Tunick.

Called Artwork with 1,000 balls (wonder what he meant by that?…grin) , Tunick’s project “is devised to capture and combine the spirit of sports, the grand sweeping waves of stadium architecture and the abstract relation of the human form to modern structures,” as he said on his website.

3,000 people had signed up to show up on Ernst-Happel stadium in Vienna, for the shoot, but, as always, some of them were no-shows. People came from Austria, Germany and other countries to take part in Artwork with 1,000 balls and they were all given tickets to the upcoming soccer games of Euro 2008.
