Well, well Tommy. YOU show YOUR ignorance in your railing against what you call "Factory Farms".

Having lived in Asia, and in the US, and knowing the pig industry quite well, I have witnessed all phases of the production of meat for YOUR plate.

In the US, Canada, Mexico, all South American countries and the EU, the use of steroids and related compounds is ILLEGAL! Please read up on that before the next blind allegation.

The markets these pigs are hauled to are VERY DIFFERENT from those in the US. Most often, no USDA like entity to provide oversite of humaneness of slaughter (an oxymoron to some, but like free speech, something that is inherent to the way of life to most in the western world). As a result, you would have to brace yourself to watch any euthanasia process, especially there (many fold more disturbing than in the western world)

Overcrowded trucks? Great inflamatory claim, that like many of this type of claims, no basis in fact. What does overcrowded mean?
1-Must lay on top of each other
2-When laying must touch each other, no visibility of the floor?
3-#2 with more visibility of floor?
4-Never touch each other (which by the way is a comfort to pigs, given the choice, normal behavior is to lay while touching each other along the entire length of their body)

Please be factual, and more informed before making the outlandish claims. More reasonable people will follow you then. If you are not factual, your voice will echo hollow in the great bowels of the ole "www".

We all should try our best to treat animals (humans included) kindly. To that, there isn't an argument, but we still have to be logical, and humble. Logically, there isn't another method for these guys to transport the pigs! They aren't going out of their way to make them suffer. Humbly, we have to realize the AWFUL things we do, in the western world, to animals. The way animals are treated in factory farms and in transport trucks gives us no moral high ground. The difference for us is that we HAVE A CHOICE. We as consumers don't commit the cruelty ourselves, but nearly all of us consumers of meat are accomplices to it. Animals live horrible lives, for our benefit. They're stuck in cages. Fed steroids. Transported and oftentimes trampled in overcrowded trucks. Killed sloppily and painfully. We do worse than these guys do, and have the ability to change. Let's not lecture them before we fix our faults.

So just because they cannot afford trucks it’s okay to make someone else suffer. –That’s probably one the dumbest comment I’ve ever seen in my whole life. That’s like saying its okay to perform mulesing on sheeps in Australia … just because the “poor” Australian farmers doesn’t have any other choice than cut the behind of millions of lambs every year.

I don’t deny there are really poor people in our world, but to use it as an argument to be cruel to animals, (or other people for that matter), is an ignorant act to life. Why does the same region still skin cats and boil them while they still are alive? Are they so poor so they can’t even kill animals humanly before they cook them or what? Of cause not! It’s lack of empathy and money maximizing … as usual.

Who gave anyone the right to dictate how another person should treat animals? If you don't like what someone does to pigs, don't do it yourself. End of story.

Spooky, i think you are missing the point. In third world countries, the people simply cannot afford the luxury of considering animal suffering at times. They NEED transport such as these as there is no other choice. The way to rectify these kinds of problems is to increase their quality of life and remove systemic poverty in these countries. Alas, I'm sorry to say but the people need to be prioritized over pigs. However, it is true that once the people are taken care of, animal suffering should be taken into due consideration.
