Not necesary due to “mankind’s greed and insensibility regarding environment”. It’s the population excess that leads to this. The best way to address pollution is decreasing human population.

wow weeping….very candid remarks….but sadly I lived in Indonesia for a year and I agree with your observations.

Same could se said for the whole human race…seems we need 50% of our time just to tell folks the need to live within our means

I hav lived in Indo all my life. The pic u c is not photoshopped. Its real. I c it everyday. The average Indo adult has the mental maturity of a teenager. So its almost impossible to reason with them, whatever serious issues that you are trying to convey will just turn into a joke and they will laugh about it in front of you (seriously). These ‘kids’ think they know better than anybody else (foreigners). Even if anyone cares enuf (or is dumb enuf) to finance a ‘clean up’, all that money will be corrupted. So let them drown in their own filth. They deserve it. They really do.

David Veksler: what regime are you talking about? From what I can tell Indonesia is one of the most laissez-faire countries in the world. It’s population represents a good example of the problems in philosophies that think the market can regulate everything. There are certian problems markets do not solve. The trash in the picture is a perfect example. What company has an interest in cleaning that up? Indonesia is a poster child for how markets also create and sustain inequality.

This garbage is problem to we all in the world, soon or later it will destroy our food in sea. and make some people lose they work as a fisherman…
And i Hope to Indonesia Governmant for make this river clean again so that people can take benefit from that river…. I hope is not to late to do….

if this guy believe that the photo is photoshopped, better he may take a look on google earth. i already saw that because its really hard to believe, but that’s the sad true….it is real. all the trash are stucked at the end of the river!!

Now, now that is a lot of trash!! we, people should be responsible in taking care of our planet because this is we live in imagine that all of these trashes go to we get our food, In the ocean! where else? all of the garbege juices that the fishes eat in and absorb to their bodies are what we also humans eat! and the land animals that fiest on garbage are also the ones that we eat isnt it grose that we also eat the trash that we thow!!
