You’re an idiot, muslims and hindus coexist in the same country. There are a lot of muslims in india. India owns a large portion of predominately muslim land and Hindus and Indian occasionally like to kill each other. In fact thats the very reason that pakistan and india would like to nuke each other.

That said, Muslims in this area are the minority and have learned to deal with stuff that would otherwise offend the muslims in other countries.

I was able to attend this festival when i travelled to India..it was just as awesome as it looks! We mostly stayed in our hotel and threw these powders at each other and the other Indian and non-Indian guests; everyone took part and it was so fun, and very beautiful. On the streets it was a bit scarier because kids put coloured water in water guns and then ambush you…it’s a bit like halloween with eggs and roman candles; fun but with a hint of violence. Anyways all in all the festival is a gorgeous celebration to be a part of.

These pictures are amazing. I live in Pakistan, and there are many festivals like these carried out here. These festivals are held, organised and attended by Muslims. The Muslim community in my part of the world is now very much tolerant to festivals like these.

Erm… yes? Seriously, no one was talking about Muslims. The article itself was talking about a Hindu holiday and practice. To be honest, it does sound very fun and I’d love to be around when that happens one day, part of my beliefs or not.

And it’s technically not face painting, nor is it exactly intended as face paint. You try throwing around powder without getting some on you.
