The Power of Make-Up

By slowly scrolling down from the first photo to the last one, you’ll realize the true power of make-up in the right hands.

This is why I never hit on women wearing too much make-up, you never know who you’re going to wake up in the morning. I’m not saying the girl in the first photo is ugly, but compared to how she looks covered with all that make up…Let’s just say there’s a chance you’ll be disappointed when you see “the real her” for the first time.

Bottom line: Make-up is powerful stuff!

It’s like false advertising.. I’d prefer someone naturally pretty that wears light makeup Rather than a porcelain face hiding Quasimodo.

  2. Michelle says:

I don’t think she need all that skin stuff in the beginning…Maybe just some concealer. Ther eyelash curler was really the thing that made her look better…

  3. Rebecca says:

Actually, I think it appears that the eyelash curler made a difference is because right after that frame she started SMILING. Up until that point she had a very serious, almost dour look on her face. While the makeup does improve her appearance, it looks to me that a smile makes a much bigger difference on her – it just changes her face completely. Also note that in the final pictures the lighting is better, and it also appears that she is wearing a wig.

I’d be smashin that before AND after, is ya feelin dat?

  7. Beth says:

You guys are idiots, she barely changes at all. Yes the concealer helped her skin, but that’s not a radical change by any means. I hope none of you are dating.

  8. Ariane says:

    It’s a a GUY people.

  9. exodus says:

    Beth, Ariane, you’re idiots.

And while we’re on that subject, it’s not a guy, and B: yeah, hate to tell ya “Beth”, that make up and concealer went along way (along with everything else she did) to improve her overall looks and not just her complexion. Period. That is fact – and obvious from the images and from any girl you’ve ever seen that actually ‘wears’ makeup, which apparently, you don’t. We can tell whose ‘not’ dating, obviously.

  10. xiao says:

She’s not a guy. She has no Adam’s apple.

  11. Taka Wolfen says:

I thought she looked very adorable even before the make up. All it did was help her complexion and get rid of the redness of her light acne.

Ever think she may wear all that make up because thinking she’s ugly without it which is sad, because like I said she’s adorable.

  12. Ai says:

gawd can’t you people see the difference of her skin structure and tone color?

she looks darker without make ups because her skin are full of dreadful pimples and that’s why the light won’t reflect properly

  13. Sachi says:

I think that she is pretty before the make-up, and I wouldn’t mind dating her. Sure the concealer and eye make-up go a long way to making her seem flawless, I think that if she only washed her face and smiled, she’d be fine with out make-up.

  14. tiffany says:

The main thing that changes her look here is her eyes. She had a mono-lid (single eyelid) before, then has a double eyelid on the picture with the eyelash curler. She uses some kind of tap or glue to create that double eyelid. It opens up her eyes. Look at the picture where shes putting on mascara, then look back to the first picture, her eye lids are different. Curled eyelashes would not have made that big of a difference.

  15. Kik says:

I’m an Asian girl and Tiffany is right. Right before she curls her eyelashes she changed her natural mono eyelids into double lids and that’s why her looks totally changed. Asian girls with monolids often use double eyelid sticky tape or glue to get double eyelids.

  16. Sarah says:

more like the power of a smile, if the first photo was taken at the same angle and as far back as the last, with the person smiling, it would make all the difference…

  17. Leaving away milk in his/her food would do half the job.
Really adorable in the last pic makes me wanna see more…

  18. sarah says:

Are you sure she glued her eyelid? it could just be the dark colour she put around her eye that gave her eyes more depth. It certainly makes a big difference. Anyway, I think she’s pretty. She just needs to manage her acne.

  19. To all women -

Please don’t leave the house without your makeup on. I think makeup did wonders for the woman in the photos.

    Thank you.

  20. jade says:

wow, she must go through so much makeup in a month!
she probably would have better skin though if she didn’t have that much on in the first place

  21. IrishMick says:

I gotta say I think it’s the smile that makes all the difference, I showed this page to my wife and she agreed that all the lass in the pic really needed was some concealer and to learn to smile. She also suggested that less make up in the first place would probably be a good idea to get rid of the acne.
I think she looks cute anyway but then maybe I’m biased my wife is Japanese. こんにちは蜂蜜

  22. pailin says:

her face still look the same the only thing change is her skin :)

  23. [...] you know, that’s what I do with my weekends (SRSLY, it is), when I happened upon this page, which shows a girl using make-up to go from “uhhhh” to “cute.”  I love [...]

  24. Michael says:

Now you know why the makeup industry is so big.

  25. lindsey says:

That is a pretty drastic change! Anybody who says its not is sooo blind. On the one hand, yes she does look better, but on the other its really obvious that shes wearing so much makeup. Simple fact, a ton of makeup = something to hide. Personally I don’t think she looks very good even after all that… but to each his/her own. I think the eyelid thing is pretty silly. She (anybody, really) feels the need to glue her eyelids? Seriously? Am I the only one who thinks thats pretty sad?? Whats the point? Surely shes just trying to attract guys, and if she gets one she’s not gonna be able to fool him with makeup and eyelid glue forever anyway. The charade is up, kid, wash your face.

  26. Red-Wolf says:

    its a guy 4 sure,and a bit photoshoped at the end ……….

    I still do.

  28. TheLastInLine says:

Where in the paragraph at the top of the page does it mentions this is a “man”?…If you read it again you will see the author clearly indicates this model is a female. Read it before making false assumptions.

  29. Alex says:

I had a girlfriend that had a similar complexion to the very first picture, it’s noticeable but if you really like someone you tend to see through it.(Which, I suppose, is still not what a girl wants to hear) Makeup is cool if you’re going out and want to look peak, but to do it everyday is a charade. Granted, to each their own, if it makes you feel good, pretty, do it for yourself, not for anyone else.

If she would have let her hair go, perked up her facial expression, and you saw her in person you would probably hardly notice the acne. She has a lot going for her already, cute nose, lips, round cheeks, full yet defined eyebrows.

@lindsey, you think the eyelid thing is silly because you’re not an Asian female perhaps? There’s quite a bit of social influence involved with the eyes for many of them.

  30. helen says:

i wonder what she looks like close up

  31. Autumn says:

My boyfriend and I agree. She needed to smile! Very beautiful!

  32. Marth says:

The biggest difference is the unflattering camera closeup in the first few pictures.

  33. AJ says:

And boys like to say they like girls who don’t wear make up but they expect girls to look like the end result without it, haha.

  34. ako says:

    i dont think she need makeup to fix her dreadful thingy, but a real dermatologist to check on her skin prob! if she continue putting thick and different stuffs on her skin it might just terribly damage her face! and worse make her look worse than ugly c; insecurity needs not a cover but a cure c;

  35. Billy says:

I think she is beautiful before and after.

  37. C0nt1nu1ty says:

Thats just the power of lighting, the first shot is a closeup with a harsh flash, it makes everyone look ugly. The last is either with natural light or with a directed off camera flash and maybe a softbox. Yes the makeup helped but its still just camera trickery.

  38. LOG1Kpi says:

I’ve had numerous girlfriends that were all about make up. There was a Kanye West line “like you with no make up on/that’s when you’re the prettiest/I hope that you don’t take wrong” She said, Guys just don’t understand. You don’t understand that we if a guy really likes you, he’ll make love to you in the morning when you’ve got no make up and your hair’s messed up. Unless you’re a slut, find another way to compensate for your insecurities.

  39. jessica says:

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THAT WHITE STUFF IN THE THIRD PICTURE IS!!! I’m so serious. How do I find out?

  40. Cassie says:

She might not have such bad acne if she didn’t clog her pores every day with 6 (counted them) layers of concealer. Clear up the acne and wear one layer of powder. It’s a lot easier.

  41. Kiki says:

Jessica, I believe (from experience that all/most asian girls do this) that’s sunscreen! very gd for your skin, unlike all the other stuff on there :/

  42. jessica says:

No, that white lotion had to be more than sunscreen. It made more difference for her complexion than anything else, except maybe the Chanel concealer right before it. Want!
    Thanks for the suggestion, Kiki.

  43. amorphousk says:

    Jessica,

It was probably a primer. its supposed to go on under your foundation and even out your pores and skin tone. Thats the only thing i know of that could do that.

  44. Kellogs says:

If she had better skin she would’ve looked pretty much the same, still the last one is lighter but a lil more dark would just be nice.

  45. Jin says:

face is not smiling in the beginning, this is a biased comparison.

  46. NightDaemon says:

The camera slowly moves back and zooms in as it goes along, which helps by miles. Plus notice she’s only smiling in the later pics.

  47. josie says:

She looked fine without makeup, she was just less polished looking. She did use eyelid tape/glue, though… that much is obvious. But she would be ten times prettier in the first pic if she was making the same expression and pose as the last pic.

  48. jessica says:

    Thank you, amorphousk!

  49. eamo says:

She was pretty at the start! Make up can take away from some people. Western society puts far too much importance on it. If you really think about it theres not that much difference between a western womans wearing of makeup to please the opposite sex and a Muslim woman covering her face. Some people are happy being objectified i guess????????
