Spooky The Sedlec Ossuary ( Kostnice Sedlec) is a Roman Catholic Church in Sedlec, The Czech Republic, famous for its unusual, organic decorations.
Unlike other churches that like to use religious paintings and religious jewelery as decorations, this one uses between 40,000 and 70,000 human bone. Built especially as an ossuary in 1400, the macabre decorating started in 1870 when the Schwarzenberg family hired a woodcarver to arrange all the heaps of bones in order. You can see the result in the photos, but just so u know, there are 4 giant bell-shaped mounds in each corner of the chapel, an enormous chandelier which contains at least one of every bone in one’s body in the center of the chapel, and a signature of the artist, executed in bone, of course, and other “works of art”.

Hey, it is not a photoshop!!!! If you want, you can come to Czech Republic and you can see it!!!You can see also other ossuary near Prague in Mělník. It is smaller but very interesting too.

To the people who think there are actually services going on there: the church has been a ‘monument’ for ages; there’s not even any room for services.
A must see when you’re visiting Prague for a few days.

it is real! I grew up in the Czech Republick. When I was about 10 yrs old, my mom and I spent a weekend afternoon there. It creeped me out and still does. The bones do come from all the villagers who died in there during the black plague as well as the bones of the burried dead. You must experience this for yourself…When you walk inside it feels like a cave- the smell, the cold damp feel of it will make you shiver.
Speaking for myself…the worst part was seeing the skulls of newborn babies…
Personally I think the artist had some serious issues…
urmom what the **** is your problem you think this is photoshopped you obviously don’t have a life and can’t see something beautiful unless it is made by a program you can trust somethings in life get out of your tiny dark bedroom and see the world for what it really is beautiful and unpredictable. also more often then not darker then you could possibly imagine.

I have been to that church 3 years ago. It is a unique experience…It’s not fake, the bones are real and a lot of history lies behind the building and the family…
It may be creepy for some people, but once inside you cannot but think about the balance between religion, spirituality, death and living soul…
Today I have received an email that is sad these bone were collected by the Pope after Crusade war in 1218. All of the bones were Muslims’ bones.

No that, is not true. The bones are mostly from people who died during the Black Death, when the bubonic plague wreaked havoc through Europe. The bones of those buried during that time were later unearthed and placed in the Sedlec Ossuary.
Statements like this about the Church allegedly built of human bones as really being Muslim bones serve only to inflame peoles’ basest passions. Now there would probably be a reaction of unpredictable behaviour on the part of some Muslims that may be of the same mental level as those Christians (or others, God knows) who started this nonsense.
