Women’s Rugby

I find men’s rugby really weird, but this is even more so.

I can’t think why anyone would want to play such a sport, I mean at leas in football you get to wear protective gear, but in rugby it’s just skin on skin and bone to bone, so to speak. I’ve seen some really gorilla-looking players so I can understand why they’d want to play this sport, but these women…Sure they have the right to play any sport they want but this doesn’t mean they’re safe from looking ridiculous while they do it. Too bad we don’t have a video too.

Here are some pictures of an Iranian women’s rugby team.

Are you entirely sure that is the case in Iran ?? I am surprised their women are allowed to do any such thing!!

Perhaps you dont realize this, but Rugby is one of the most popular sports on the planet, played in over 100 countries… Last year’s world cup had 4 billion viewers. There are even 1500 clubs in the US…

Weird thing is, for most rugby fans, American Football is regarded as a sport for wimps because of all that protective gear. In rugby, the pace is faster, tackles are harder, all without the protection. Gotta love it!

  7. ooohhhh says:

why you think women cant play rugby in iran?

  8. Mahdi says:

@milica: what do u even mean by: “they dont even ‘no’ what rugby is”

I’d much rather have someones forehead smash into my forearm than someones football helmet. I’ve played both American Football and Rugby. The injuries are much worse in football. They equipment is an illusion. It does more to hurt you than protect you. Try hitting the ground while having your arm’s natural range of motion limited my shoulder pads. You get a broken arm instead of… well nothing.

what’s silly or odd about these photos. I’d say if anything, they are inspiring. You should only dream to be as strong and brave.

  14. HAni says:

at least in iran you are allowed to do any thing you want … which is not the case in saudia arab ect… u should be thankful… its no harm in covering your hairs i think all the women in the pic are looking very gracefull

I think it’s awesome that the women in Iran find a way to still play the game regardless of what they have to wear. spooky you don’t seem to be very athletic and probably don’t understand what it’s like to play and love a game. you should probably just stick to having babies and making your man his dinner. only strong independent women play rugby.

  19. AlexSorent says:

Well, these are interesting thoughts. I think they are true. However, everything is
relative and ambiguous to my mind.

  20. Maddison says:

I would just like to say you have no idea what your talking about. I’ve been playing rugby for years now and i play on a team who is very small but has alot of skill and speed!!! I am a 23 year old chick from Aus and I’m not extremely big just tall and althletic and I am one of the front rowers for my team and yeah I can take a decent hit but some of the smallest players on our team can give a decent hit, its not dangerous if you know how to play properly I’ve played for ages and yeah i may have been knocked out a few times and taking a few blows but never seriously injured……….Maybe you shouldn’t knock something till u have either played it or understand it properly!!!

  21. Aysha says:

‘they dont even no what rugby is’
    - umm. Yeah they do. Hence the pictures of them playing the sport. You knob!

They may have a different culture, religion and language but last time I checked we do have the same brain functions and therefore capacity for understanding and knowledge!
