These are good comments on Australian history. YOU almost forgot to mention the bird. Ha%}. It is a pretty bird, as always, you should be careful not to make wild animals angry.

O-M-F-G,

You lot are a real worry. Not only is your grasp on the English language tenuous (at best) but your knowledge of both history and fauna is appalling!

Cassowaries although at times aggressive, have killer dance moves and in 2007 a now famous Cassowary won Australian Idol.
Go Casey... respect.

As far as your history is concerned - Australians, as has been recently proven, are the direct descendants of either Rolf Harris or Kamahl.

Go Cassowary’s - you are killer

I lived for 21 years in New Guinea and had frequent contact with cassowaries both domesticated as well as in the wild. They can be extremely vicious and, as a bush pilot, flew several disemboweled patients to hospitals after suffering attacks by domesticated cassowaries. While some call them endangered, they are quite abundant in the lowlands areas of New Guinea island and are commonly hunted and eaten.

Man you guys know nothing.

You think the cassowaries are a dangerous bird? You just wait until your walking along minding your own business in the outback and a Dropbear leaps from the fuckin' trees to get you.

This thing is a distant relative of the koala, has fangs the size of a salt water croc and hunts and kills animals up to 5 times its size - including the cassowarie

Cassowarries don't have shit on Dropbears.

Oh, and by the way, all you jerks who want to talk crap about ppl from other countries, first of all I am an American, (and very proud to be one) and Ill let you know real quick that not all Americans are fat, what country dosent have a few fat ppl?
Australia IS a beautiful place from what I have seen in pictures and on the t.v. and new zealand seems to be just as beautiful. Now why on earth would some one dog out another country like that? Even more so, why on earth would some one dog out the animals that live in that country? That is just plain STUPID INMATURITY kicking in. Even though Australia started out with a bunch of criminals, look at them now!!! The ppl there are very smart, and most have college degrees. Don't judge an entire country just because of a few idiots, because then you are just making your self look like an idiot. Every inch of this planet is spectacular and holds beauty, its just in different forms. Please grow up, and stop talking crap!!!

I saw this bird today on t.v. while i was getting ready for work, and the ppl on the show were talking about how these birds actually will hunt humans..... thats what got me interested in them. Ive never heard of a BIRD that hunts ppl!!!! I didn't quite believe that they HUNT ppl, but i do believe that if you make it mad or have food they will probably attack a human.
It certainly is a beautiful bird!!! I would love to have the chance of observing it for myself. It would be awsome to have it as a pet and train it to be a gaurd bird. I'll bet that they are smart and if you got one as a young chick you could probably train it to do some awsome stuff.

For many years I used to fly into Darwin. While there I'd catch the sights and see the local widlife. The most amazing creatures were not out in the outback, but rather could be found in the pubs The local blokes would turn into werewolves after they drank about 10 pints, and I'd rather sleep with a saltwater croc than share a tent with one of them!
