You are correct Dnumgis. However, I don't see anyone other than Americans trying extremely dumb stunts with these. All the power eating and challenge channelse on Youtube are full of videos featuring ghose pepper or Carolina reaper.

Also, I wonder how exactly you enjoy these hot peppers. Do you just swallow a whole lot of them down like a lunatic or do you add moderate amounts to your food just to spice it up? There is a huge difference between the two acts. Wouldn't you agree?

Sigmund, I hope you realize Bhut Jolokia doesn't sound American at all. That's because it is from India. There are also super hot peppers from Trinidad. Only recently has America joined in on cultivating super hot peppers.
And it is enjoyable, especially for the hot pepper addict. Why else would they be addicted to hot peppers?

Um, no. This article is B.S. Capsaicin is a chemical that binds to receptors that produces sensation of heat. It is not heat per say and hence in no way can burn a hole in anything. Birds do not have receptors for capsaicin hence no amount of pepper can make birds feel the heat. So sad for being a journalist nowadays.

Yet another inexplicable American obsession. Why did anyone even have to cultivate a species so hot? I don't have any problems with hot pepper or food, yet I find it difficult to comprehend why on earth anybody would go as far as consuming something that hot. It sure as hell cannot be enjoyable even for a hot pepper addict.
