May individual Americans purchase one? If so, where do I go to do this?

It seems to me that the folks who think the creative "make do" approach is best probably all had decent sports equipment growing up and have no idea what a transforming nature this ball could have for them. It's called progress.

That's great. Another piece of plastic that will not rot, break down or decay...

I agree with R.W.G.; Being creative and using the resources they actually *Have* is going to be better for them in the long run.
Also, the writer of this article kept misspelling 'Soccer'.

Kids having fun is great and all, but once again the Africans need help from the rich Westerner, using manufacturing process in other countries. The kids actually are better off being ingenious, inventing and creating with limited resources to make things they want. That sort of creativity will be more useful to them and their countries in the future. They need to be self sustaining with the resources they have instead of always getting a handout, which just cripples them for the future. And why don't they make the balls in African factories
