Misleading story. The smoke is a by product of a boosted up diesel. These motors are getting huge power. Not an intentional endeavour however an amusing addition to increased output. Shame on you author.

Rolling Coal makes all of us in the diesel industry cringe.

Truck and engine makers in the US have spent the last decade
virtually eliminating emissions from diesel engines of all kinds; especially black smoke/particulate emissions—and have done so working collaboratively with regulators at EPA, CARB and environmental agencies around the world.

Diesel truck and engine makers have also lowered CO2 emissions and increased fuel efficiency to meet new greenhouse gas requirements.

Our “statement” is producing engines and vehicles that meet or exceed environmental standards, regardless which Presidential Administration or political party set them; being more fuel efficient and increasing the use of renewable fuels. http://www.dieselforum.org/RollingCoal
