From what I read, they did this because the food was already paid for and they couldn’t receive a refund, right?

At the end, they said they wanted to have another event but with sponsors paying for the bill. As much as that sounds awesome… it’s highly unlikely they can find sponsors willing to donate money to be used in this fashion.
