That's not what OCD is. It's not "super tidy," it's "switch the light on and off exactly 14 times because if I don't, someone I love will die." It's irrational, invasive thoughts, not some cute tag you can put on any repeated behavior.
While it's great that Deng Mei has a successful business, I would be surprised if she actually suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder, which is such a misrepresented and misunderstood disorder. Those who really have OCD are often tormented by their obsessions and feel like a slave to their compulsions. My son had OCD so severe he could not even eat, but thankfully he received proper treatment. Today he is a young man living life to the fullest. I recount my family's story in my critically acclaimed book, Overcoming OCD: A Journey to Recovery (Rowman & Littlefield, January 2015) and discuss all aspects of the disorder on my blog at www.ocdtalk.wordpress.com. There truly is hope for all those who suffer from this insidious disorder, which is not about being neat and tidy.
