Rye said: "Besides, I hear people still “waste” pumpkins by carving them into holiday decorations."

Yes, but in that case, the pumpkins are grown specifically for that purpose and any left over are typically left in the field and plowed under or are harvested and used for feed. I have a group of friends who gather them up and put them out in forests to feed deer.
Your comparison between bacon - which is produced specifically for consumption - and pumpkins used as jack-o-lanterns is a stretch at the very least. The used pumpkins go back into the food supply whereas the bacon lampshade will eventually get tossed into the garbage.
You obviously also missed my main point which tells me you don't have anything better to do with your time or have a grasp of history.

Really? No one (except for Mary) seems to see how this is just wrong? Ya know, there were these dudes in the late 30's early 40's who thought it would be cool to make lampshades and other stuff from the remains of those they had dispatched. Ironically enough, those same people don't eat pork products. We now have some bozos who think it's a good idea to make a lampshade from bacon. WTF were you people thinking?
Sorry, but I need to draw a line somewhere about using bacon (or other food products) for things that don't get eaten. I'm not a BHL, but there are people starving witin our own country, not to mention the rest of the world and I have a problem with food being wasted this way. Programs such as "Man vs. Food" should go away.

Stop wasting food in your quest to be "creative".
