					<description><![CDATA[Speaking as a self-confessed bibliophile who has visited Hay-on-Wye, I&#039;d like to share a major criticism.

The books in the garden of the mansion are left outside permanently, exposed to the elements; and in the UK, that means rain. No bibliophile could possibly endorse the appalling treatment of books seen in most of these pictures; higgledy-piggledy, often ruined after repeated drenchings.

That said, there are an abundance of excellent bookshops in Hay-on-Wye, and some of the semi-outdoor ones, like the one in the fourth picture here, provide protection from the elements.]]></description>
