I have to disagree. Regardless of whether it's steampunk or clockpunk or whatever, the mashup between those aesthetics and taxidermy just don't work very well in these pieces. Just stuffing clock parts inside a stuffed animal isn't very interesting, and certainly not very visually pleasing. The "deer" piece is a little better, but so much more could be done here. Still, I give the artist a lot of credit for trying this--seems she just needs to stretch out creatively and take the idea further.

As a taxidermist myself, I can tell you that people DO NOT kill animals just to stuff them. This is a way to preserve something of beauty that would otherwise rot and go to waste. As mentioned above, if you are upset by dead animals, think about where all of your leather goods and your McNuggets come from. The animals in those situations are horribly abused and live a miserable life. Before you cry ethics on someones art, look at the choices you make in your own life.

im confused. dont people realize that animals arent "killed" for taxidermy? most of the time, its an animal found dead or accidentally killed, or dead from natural causes.

Do people really have nothing better to do than to hate on someone else's likes? So what if you don't like Steampunk? Get over it. I hate rap but you don't see me telling rap artists they are worthless and whatnot. Just deal with it. It's here and as long as it is, someone will still like it.
Plus, Hasn't taxidermy been around for a while? Isn't this the same thing but with a little something extra? I see no problem here.

Otherwise, I'm with Asolfr on that. This stuff is pretty cool I like to see that, if you're going to go hunting (or just happen upon an already dead critter), that you use ALL of it.

I love it, i have read all of the feedbacks and must say i dont think anyone understands. I love animals raised on a farm and taught from a young age to use all parts of an animal. when i found antlers i made knife handles or buttons, when i hunted or butchered animals for food we used all , including skin and bones.
to "stuff" an animal you must remove all meat tendons etc. all that is left typically is the hide, since everything else can rot it is removed. then you "stuff" to make it look like that which it was in life.
you have taken this to a beautiful level, jazzing it with imagination. and i applaud you for it.

oh, and for those whose small minds cant understand. it is very doubtfull these animals where killed just for art, but in the effort to use all the parts of the animals, and not waste, the artist has chosen to use a already available item.

ever wonder were the bone buttons come from on your purses ladies who complain, or the leather of your boots, jacket, purse etc.. think about it and stop being naieve.

It's kind of taxidermy with a flair. It's no more or less wrong to stuff and mount a dead animal than it is to stuff and mount bionic legs to a stuffed and mounted dead animal. I think we can all assume these animals were not killed for the project. There are lots of ways to acquire "already dead" animals in nature and probably otherwise. If you were looking for them, you'd see them. As disturbing as I find this art and as absurd as I find the terms "steampunk" and "clockpunk", I do find this to be compelling... and therefore "art". @"shopped" I suppose if someone handed you a ship in a bottle then you would also declare, "SHOPPED!"
