I can do the same thing (along with dislocate my fingers and shoulders, amd freely move my kneecaps) but i am able to do it from a connective tissue disorder called ehler's-danlos syndrome. there are about 8 different types of this disorder but i have hypermobility (the guy that can strech his skin really far has hyperextensibility type) my type only effects about one in 8,000 people. orginally it was thought that i was just double jointed but when i blew my knee out from high school sports and had to got to an orthopedic doctor i showed him how i can dislocate my shoulder and he preceded to tell me about EDS. He happened to have students in the office at the time so i then turned into a teaching tool, telling them "come take a look at this you may never get a chance to see this ever again."
