Volvo is known as one of the safest cars in the world, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make them go fast too.

Spotted on the streets of Johor, Malaysia, this car has to be the fastest Volvo in the world. As you can see in the photos, it has no less than 10 exhausts, countless gauges showing God knows what information, and the stickers on the back warn anyone foolish enough to want to race it, that it has fuel injection and twin turbo.

Not much more info on the web about this beast, but what more can anyone say really? The photos speak a lot louder than words.

Are you sad because you can’t afford to buy that Harley-Davidson chopper you’ve always dreamed of? That’s ok, the economic crysis hit us all hard, but don’t worry you can build a fine chopper yourself, like this guy did.

This Chinese dude proves to us all that if you want something really bad you can achieve it. He wanted a motorcycle, but he didn’t have the cash for a new one, so he built it from junk. It may not be the best-looking chopper you’ve ever seen, but it works, and that’s all that matters to this guy.

So if you can’t buy a bike, build it. It’s not easy but  people built greater things, like a home-made submarine, a back-yard rollercoaster and even an Ironman costum.

Some people love anime heroes that much.

We all know how popular anime are worldwide, but especially in the coutry that invented them, Japan. Known as Itasha, the art of covering the body of a car with fictional anime characters, is very popular in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Gatherings to show off the coolest Itasha cars are held regularly, and the latest was organized in Nagara town, just north of Tokyo. Called “Winter 2009 Itasha Collection“, it was held on January 25 and brought together over 150 cool cars. A 20 million-yen Itasha car was reportedly also presented there.

It appears gold-plating your car is the latest fashion in rich Arab countries.

Take this gorgeous Mercedes AMG, one of the most beautiful cars on the market today. Its owner wanted to take his “common” car and turn it into so mething that would really turn heads. So what do you do when you have too much money to count, and want to make something shiny shine even more? You gold-plate it of course.

So if you are ever in a country like, let’s say Dubai, and see a golden car drive by, don’t make a big deal out of it, it’s just their thing.

It’s not your average bull-bar but it works.

What do people do when they don’t have enough money to install a normal bull-bar on their SUVs? Well in Russia they just get a log and attach it to the front of the vehicle with some iron bolts. It doesn’t look as good as a normal bull-bar, but it’s a lot cheaper and it gets the job done.

Didn’t know Russia builds super-cars? That’s alright, they didn’t, until now.

Marussia is the invention of Russian GT driver Nikolai Fomenko and it has become the first Grand Turismo car built in Russia. That’s not the most important thing about Marussia, since most of the parts come from abroad, but the fact that you can change its body as easy as replacing a mobile phone’s facet.

The steel frame that holds the 3,5 litre engine and all the other important parts is the core of the Marussia, while the ultra-light plastic body can be easily changed by the owner.

Marussia is a true GT racer, producing 300 horse-power and accelerating from 0 to 100 km. per hour in just 4.2 seconds.

GP Limos is certainly an original idea. Nobody has ever created a racing vehicle to fit 6 passengers and the driver.

Mike Pettipas is the mastermind behind GP Limos and creator of the World’s Fastest Street-Legal Limousine. The concept of GP Limos is pretty simple, build a racing car that looks like a Formula 1 car, fit it with a powerful engine and accomodate 6 passengers.

No info is revealed regarding the GP Limos‘ engines but it’s got to be something realy impressive, if Pettipas wants to beat the Bugatti Veyron‘s speed record of 253 mph.

The GAZ-13 Chaika is an old, rare Soviet limousine with a sinister history.

GAZ -13 Chaika is clear proof the soviets had class when it came to building luxury vehicles and its design is appreciated by collectors in modern days. Only 3,719 Chaika limousines were ever built so they are prized treasures for auto enthusiasts, but for the Russians who remember the days of the comunist regime, they are just a dark memory.

Soviet leaders loved the GAZ-13 Chaika and so did the senior KGB officers of the 60s and 70s, but for average Russians the Chaika was just a symbol of the power the Comunist Party had over them. The large rear seat of the GAZ-13 Chaika made it easy for KGB operatives to simply drive by “suspicious” citizens and pull them inside.

Very few GAZ-13 Chaika are around today, since Russian policy had them destrtoyed after they completed their duty cycle.

Army-camouflage has to be the worst pain choice for a Bentley.

I think I’d rather drive Paris Hilton’s pink Bentley than get behind the wheel of this odd looking thing. I think army-camouflage should be banned as a luxury vehicle paint, it just makes no sense.

The Eliica prototype created quite a lot of hype when it was unveilled in 2003, both because of its incredible specifications and ugly looks. Eliica is a fully electric super-car created by a team of engineers from Keio University, Japan. The eight-wheeled vehicle is powered by a pack of large lithium-ion batteries that help it go from 0 to 100 km. per hour in just 4 seconds and reach a top speed of 402 km/h.

Each of Eliica‘s eight wheels produce 80 horsepower and its batteries provide power for a 321 km ride. Hiroshi Shimizu, head of the Eliica project, is considering producing a limited series. The exclusive super-car costs &320,000.

BMW presents the new Z4 in an original painting event.

It’s not exactly a Picasso but the Z4 did a pretty good job considering it only had 4 wheels to work with. The wheel-painting may not have come out as good as the BMW people hoped, but the new Z4 is smoking hot and like just about everything the German manufacturer ever launched, it’s likely to be a hit.

Finally, a car that really flies.

Aerocar was invented by Moulton “Molt” Taylor in 1956 and got patents both as a road vehicle and as an aircraft that same year. After the original prototype Moulton built three other flying cars, three of which still exist today.  Aerocar is made-up of a small car and a trailer the wings and the fuselage. As you can imagine the car’s engine is pretty powerfull so maybe you can use it in races, with its looks, the opposition won’t know what hit them.

It’s pretty incredible that a flying vehicle has been available in real life for so long, and we only saw similar stuff in sci-fi films. If you’re looking to buy a car like the Aerocar, you might want to visit Aerocarforsale there’s one on sale. If you do buy an Aerocar, remember where you first read about it, fly over and take for a flight.

Costas Schuler saw a book about art cars 5 years ago and was fascinated by them. He knew he wanted to make one of his own but didn’t know where to start, until one morning he woke up and knew he wanted to do something with pens. So he started covering his old 1981 Mercedes -Benz with pens, and he’s been doing it ever since using pens donated from people all around the world.

Costas is known as The Pen-Guy and his car is called Mercedes-Pens and together they travel the country collecting pens and putting smiles on the faces of those who spot them. The Mercedes-Pens is now covered with over 10,000 pens both on the inside and the outside.

Developed by Kyoto University Venture Business Laboratory, Bambgoo is a fully functional vehicle that runs for 50 kilometers on a single charge. This ecological concept car is 270 cm long, 130 cm wide, 165 cm high and only 60 kg heavy. That’s what’s so special about Bambgoo, its body is made out of bamboo. If you happen to pass through Japan these days, you might want to check it out and maybe even take it for a short drive-test.
