The amazing well of Chand Baori

Built back in the 10th century, the incredible well of Chand Baori, India was a practical solution to the water problem in the area. The arid climate forced the locals to dig deep for a dependable water source, one that would last throughout an entire year. Chand Baori well is 30 meters deep, it has 13 floors and 3,500 steps. Legends say that ghosts build it in one night and that it has so many steps to make it impossible for someone to retrieve a coin once it’s been dropped in the well.

Bacon chocolate

Believe or not folks Mo’s Bacon Bar by Vosges is not the only bacon chocolate available on the market. It seems people have had enough of traditional sweets and are ready for something new, no matter how weird.

Bacon is I think one of the last things I’d associate with chocolate but, according to what I read about this stuff, it’s becoming quite popular. I for one will stick to just plain milk chocolate, but if you’re interested about Vosgesbacon chocolate visit their website and learn more.

The Cork Costume

Remember the Bottle-cap painting and the Bottle-cap collection? Those are just too examples that anything that seems like junk can still be usable. Today it’s the cork‘s turn to prove its long-term usefulness.

The man in the photos is very passionate about wine so he decided to create a costume that could show his love for delicious drink. So he just collected enough bottle corks and bound them together to create this tuxedo. Looks good on him, doesn’t it?

LEGO Sushi

This LEGO sushi plate just goes to show you that LEGOs can be molded into pretty much anything. Just look at how delicious the arrangement looks, I’d sink my teeth into it and I don’t even like sushi.

Real “War of the Worlds” Tripod

It’s not every day that you come face to face with one of the most infamous alien contraptions ever. Actually you could walk past one if you live in Woking, the home town of H.G. Wells, where a Tripod sculpture rules over the town square.

This amazing 23-feet-high Tripod was built by Michael Condron in 1998 to celebrate the centenary of “War of the Worlds” together with the first alien capsule to hit Earth, half buried into the ground. As you can see the design of the Tripod is simply amazing, it looks like it’s about to wake up and starting zapping people.

Celebrity Solstice – Largest Premium Criuse Ship Ever Built

One of the most luxurious cruise liners ever built, the Celebrity Solstice is also the largest luxury cruise ship to hit the water. It offers its passengers 11 decks to explore on which they can find anything their hearts desire. the Celebrity Solstice is without exaggeration a floating city.

Don’t think I’ll ever have the opportunity to experience a ride on the Celebrity Solstice but I envy the ones that do. What can I say, another expensive toy for rich people, yay!

Star-Wars Wedding

I always knew the Star-Wars universe was pretty popular and that there are those that build their entire lives around it, but this is the first time I’ve seen a Star-Wars themed wedding.

You wouldn’t catch me dead at a Star-Wars convention, but from what I see in the photos this Star-Wars wedding turned out pretty cool.

World’s Fattest Man has an outing

Manuel Uribe, the 42-years old previous holder of the World’s Fattest Man title was finally able to leave his home and take a trip around the Mexican town of Monterey. Although he wasn’t able to walk on his own, the now 310 kilograms-heavy Mexican was able to enjoy a light snack on the shore of a lake and even exchange a few words with the locals.

Uribe is struggling to lose serious weight and so far he’s doing a good job, remember, he used to weigh a half-a-ton. He was carried through town in a special bed using a kind of forklift.

The fabric-covered gas-station

Artist Jennifer Marsh, founder of the International Fiber Collaborative has just finished wrapping an abandoned gas-station in pieces of fabric from all-around the world. The whole project cost $29,000 and a part of the sum came from her own pocket.

She’s now thinking of expanding the organization into other communities, not just Syracusw, New York and her future project will involve covering an abandoned grocery-store in recycled plastic.

The Viking Festival of Catoira

Held every year on the first Sunday of August, in Catoira, Spain, the Viking Festival is a fun celebration in which the locals celebrate the role played by Catoira in the defense against viking invaders.

The highlight of the Viking Festival is the disembarking of viking-dressed locals from a 11th century viking ship and the battle between the Spanish defenders that always leads to all the combatants being drenched in wine.

Largest bottle-cap collection in the world

For some reason people love to collect bottle-caps, some even use them to make bottle-cap paintings, but I’ve never seen such a large collection before.

The bottle-caps in the photos weigh over 850 kg. and as you can see take up an entire room. However the main advantage of a treasure of these proportions is that, well, nobody tries to steal it. The “lucky owner of this 380,000 bottle-cap collection must be one heavyweight beer-drinker huh?

La Tomatina – tomato fighting festival

Can you say FOOD FIGHT?

If you’re one of those people that loved starting food fights in the school cafeteria, you’re going to love La Tomatina festival. every year, on the last Wednesday of August, thousands of people gather on the streets of Bunol, Spain and throw over one hundred metric tons of tomatoes at each-other. Tradition says the tomato fight of La Tomatina is supposed to begin when someone manages to climb up a two-story high greased wooden pole and grab a piece of ham, but since that takes forever the battle starts all of a sudden.

During La Tomatina people just come at you and tear the shirt right off you, even if you’re a woman so don’t act all surprised or scared. The whole tomato battle lasts for an hour aftewhich everyone goes to Bunol River to wash up. If any stragglers are still on the streets after the fight, the locals are more than happy to hose them down.

La Tomatina helps keep the towns streets clean through the acid properties of the tomatoes.
