Car Dealership Introduces Humanoid Robot Staff

China’s Chery Automobile brand recently introduced Mornine, a humanoid robot designed for use in car dealerships, at one of its Malaysian dealerships.

Originally designed as a digital character meant to connect with the young generation by leveraging concepts like the metaverse and social media, Mornine evolved into a humanoid robot that can interact with customers in the real world. Technically known as the AiMOGA Robot, Mornine uses a multimodal sensing model that allows it to accurately perceive the gestures and commands of humans it interacts with, as well as navigate the environment it functions in. Its robotic body incorporates automotive-grade technology and a bionic motion system that allows upright movements and accurate hand gestures. For decision-making, Mornine uses Deepseek’s large language models, which allow it to understand natural language and deliver personalized responses.

Mornine was first unveiled in 2023 and was showcased at various events throughout 2024, but 2025 was the first year she entered commercial service at a car dealership in Kuala Lumpur, where she became a fully operational sales assistant. The humanoid robot uses its speaking skills to explain things about the car to potential buyers, answer their questions, and even assists people with test drives.

Although the recently released showcase video for Mornine isn’t the most impressive, with the robot looking and sounding very artificial, but Chery Automobile has big plans for its new humanoid robot. The Chinese company envisions a future in which Mornine is deployed in public places such as shopping malls, cinemas, and exhibitions, where she will act as a customer service assistant.

Humanoid robots have come a long way in recent years, but judging by Mornine’s current capabilities and other examples we’ve seen, it’ll be a while before they can function in the real world.
