James, yes, some bad things have been done in the name of religion, but many good things have been done as well. Many fine charities are run by religious organizations.

Bad thing are done because man has the capability of doing evil. Stalin was an atheist and he killed millions. Do you condemn atheists because Stalin was a butcher? Mankind has the capability of doing good or evil and both can be done in the name of religion.

This man has done a great job on the temple. From what I read in the article, he didn’t do it full time, which is why it took so long to do. He is very talented and wanted to display his talents.

James, you give up all of your hobbies and free time for the next thirty years of your life helping people make the world a better place, then you can tell other people how to spend their free time.

I am truly impressed with this and would love to see it up close.

I think you’re missing the point of a bored man who turned his free time into something amazing. He could have spent his time like me, browsing the web while watching Star Trek, but he made that instead. Sure we both could go donate our free time to social justice, but thats not how the world works. This man just might not be that type of person. In fact, he’s one of the lucky few who has discovered his own talents and enjoys working with them.

Imagine if he had spent that time and resources doing something useful! Instead, he wasted all of it on a fake religious image that will do no one any good at all.

Most of the problems of the world are, and always have been, caused by religion. For example, 9/11, Northern Ireland, the Middle East, and family planning clinic bombing in the USA. Then there were the crusades, the inquisition, and the dark ages. Get the idea?

Humanity will never truly be free until the black yoke of religion is lifted by the clear light of truth and rational thinking.
