Wow. That’s a pretty cruel practice. It isn’t like the fish have freewill or a voice to say ‘no thanks i don’t want my skin burned with a laser’. Causing potentially serious injury to a living thing for ‘beauty’ is cruel and selfish (no pun intended here).

“FORTUNE FISH?” really? thats looks pretty UNfortunate to me, considering that these fish will have greatly shortened life spans and the acid used to prepare them for the tattooing destroyed their slim coat making them vulnerable to disease and infection. Yeah nothing says “I love you, honey!” like a dead fish floating upside down in a wasted tank. Well done China, you have once again given this white girl a reason to dislike your country as a whole. First you try to poison our children with lead, and now you are getting them hooked on fish that are treated with no kindness. Way to show how morally corrupt we think you are…well done, well done.

This is a travesty and a disgrace to the aquarist community. Tattooing/dyeing fish is a cruel practice. Anyone who would keep fish and treat them like objects or ornaments shouldn’t keep them at all.

Those are very lucky fish indeed…

may be they can tattoo those fish with four leaf clover icon… which would be more suitable for the western audiences.
