Italy Inaugurates World’s First Sauna Tram

Public transportation is considered one of the most stressful things in the world, but the designers of Italian public transport company QC Termemilano set out to prove public transportation can also be relaxing.

They managed to create an ordinary tram cart into the world’s first tram sauna, complete with hot coals, wooden benches, and thanks to the open windows, a wonderful view of the surroundings. Except for these features, the tram sauna looks just like any other cart. ‘This innovative design is to show that not all public transport is frustrating. It can be somewhere to relax.’ said one of the company’s representatives.

The custom tram sauna is currently located in the middle of a real spa complex, but although it sits on its own real tracks, it won’t be going anywhere any more.

    Uh… well… I doubt this is _first_ one in a train… because here in Finland, we have build sauna to pretty much _every_ possible place, moving or not… (even in a sailing boat).

    Please fix your facts even this “news” is from another source.

    I’m sorry simakuutio, but I did some searching online, and I couldn’t find anything about another sauna set up in a tram cart in Finland or anywhere else for that matter. If you can provide some proof of a another such sauna, I can fix the post, it’s no problem.

    This list is unfortunaly in finnish (because it’s mainly focused to Finnish people) but in that list, there are “Junasauna” which means “Sauna in a train”. There are also other saunas in motion (Liikkuva sauna) including Skoda-sauna (sauna in Skoda car). Couldn’t find “Sauna in a tram” so in that sense, this news is correct and it may really be first sauna in a tram.. :)

    This site itself doesn’t give (for some unknown reason) any real details about this sauna in a train.

    So I wouldn’t bother to fix that news itself, it’s good as is. Just wanted to point out that fact, we Finns are quite crazy about saunas and we tend to build them to everywhere :)

    Oh, I know that buddy, any country that hosts a “Sauna World Championship” is definitely crazy about saunas :)
