Swallowable Perfume Makes Your Sweat Smell Nice

Netherlands-based artist Lucy McCrae teamed up with a synthetic biologist to create a perfume pill that actually turns your sweat into a fragrance.

Swear has never been known for its nice odour, but that’s all going to change as soon as “Swallowable Parfum” becomes a reality. Australian artist Lucy McCrae is currently working on a revolutionary pill designed to deliver perfume directly into the body, turning the skin into an atomiser. ‘Swallowable Parfum is a digestible scented capsule that emits a unique odor through your own perspiration,’ McCrae writes on her website. The pill will essentially turn sweat into a fragrance that will have its own characteristic for every person, because we are genetically unique.

For this project Lucy teamed-up with synthetic biologist Sheref Mansy, and although swallowable perfume is still in the development skin, the two hope their pill will create a ‘biologically enhanced second skin synthesized directly from the natural processes of the body.’ “Once absorbed, the capsule enables the skin to become a platform, an atomizer. Fragrance molecules are excreted through the skins surface during perspiration, leaving tiny droplets on the skin that emanate a unique odor,” McCrae says, adding that “thepotency of scent is determined by each individual’s acclimatization to temperature, stress, exercise, or sexual arousal.”

Swallowable Parfum has no scheduled release date yet, but the artist has created a promotional video that describes the perfume pill as a “new cycle of evolution”.

Lucy McCrae couldn’t take a better photo then that? Sheesh… even a Google image search of “sweaty” comes up with a billion other better pictures then whois ever surface-of-the-moon face that is. Ugh. Already unappealing. Why not make a suppository that makes your farts smell like dandelions instead?

I rarely break a sweat being the keyboard jockey I am but I do know I get mad gas quite a few times a day — just being honest.

Todd if you would have even watched the video, you would’ve realized that the photo is a still from the youtube video.

Secondly, while yes we do fart quite often during the day, the smell only lingers for roughly 30 seconds (depending on the environment, temperature, etc.)

Thirdly, most people on the planet sweat way more than they fart per day, even if there is no physical activity or the weather is unreasonably cold. The avg person sweats roughly 4 cups a day. And mind you, BO is a smell that lingers as long as it is on your body/clothes.

So while having your farts smell like lollipops or popcorn would be fun, this idea has a much more practical use.
