World’s largest horns

Frankly I can’t imagine how hard it must be for this fella to keep his head up with these things.

This is Lurch, the proud bearer of the world’s largest horns. Lurch is a Watusi bull living in an Animal shelter, whose horns measure 92.25 cm and weigh more than 100 pounds each. He’s quite the attraction in his home state and he’s favorite pass-time is acting as bodyguard for a crippled horse that’s being harassed by fellow horses. He looks amazing doesn’t he?

in case you guys hadnt realized, the excess of people claiming photoshops has made it a common joke to post.

  • Drag0n Posted on July 10, 2008

    i’d say real
the markings on the horns would be too hard to recreate perfectly at the angles shown. definitely an interesting find!

  • Dave Posted on July 24, 2008

This is in mountain home, ar. They are not photoshopped…it is free to go visit Lurch however please make a little donation to the owner so she can keep some of the expenses under control. There are zebra’s and other animals there as well.

this is a real breed you bumbling idiots! I am so sick and tired of every time there is something out of the ordinary that most of you uneducated dolts have not seen being labeled as photoshop. Stop spending all day making Lol cats and watching porn and get an education. If the Guinness record or the video did convince you, you should go kill yourself because you are going to die alone in your parents basement. Save everyone else from your idiocy please!

If you look at the pictures the horns are in fact all at the same angle. The first one merely looks like it is different because the shot was taken from below with the bull looking down a little. All the other shots are from straight on or above so the angle of the horns looks different. Furthermore there are in fact shadows in the first picture. Why do you think it is so much darker from right about 1/4″ above the shoulder blade then back along the length of its body. Before anyone says it I am not talking about the white.

  • Brittney Posted on August 8, 2008

okay the pictures are NOT photoshopped.. the horns are real.. my response is to the person who stated that the horns serve no purpose to the animal.. actually the horns act as an inside air conditioner to the animal. On hot days, the horns fill with blood to make the body temperature on the animal drop, and when the animal has cooled down, the blood will then go back into the body.

  • Darren Posted on August 10, 2008

Did you ever notice that people that say “photoshopped”
Know nothing about the program or the subject matter..
it’s always the first response of an ignorant person

I met Lurch & Janice. And it’s not fake. Look at the lurch and the herd website and see for yourself that Ellen DeGeneres featured the Rocky Ridge Refuge TWO times on the show.

If I didn’t see if myself, I would’ve screamed photoshop too. But now, I believe! I did not ride lurch nor did my kids. He was being shy, it was a hot day and many of the animals didn’t want to come down the hill to the dirt road. I was amazed at how all the different animals got along! My six year old though Lurch looked sad b/c he had no friends “his size”. then she saw the water buffalo and realized he did have a big bud.

Call the Mountain Home AR chamber of Commerce. They will confirm for you. Or watch the Ellen clip. It’s amazing to say the least!!!

  • Krista Posted on August 21, 2008

Also wanted to add that he is in Gassville, not Mountain Home. But the towns are very close to each other and both in Baxter County. I met him two weeks ago while visiting my in-laws.

  • Anomynous Posted on September 4, 2008

Just saw this dude on Ellen, you dildos.

  • Justin Wilson Posted on September 4, 2008

Actually for all those who think is is photoshopped… This bull was just on the Ellen show for having the World Record of largest horns in the world. Come on people, actually look into something before you bump it it to “Photoshopped” I mean really…

  • Blah Posted on September 4, 2008

    That is one horny bull!

  • Harley11067 Posted on September 4, 2008

This bull was on Ellen. It’s in an Arkansas pet rescue ranch. It’s not photo shopped.

  • David Posted on September 5, 2008

“Shopped, look at the shadows” i suppose the bull is as thin as his shadow as well.

  • suns Posted on September 5, 2008

this was not photoshopped!! look it up on the ellen degeneres show!!!

  • shaun Posted on September 5, 2008

saw it on ellen, its fuckin real

  • jarrod Posted on September 10, 2008

i will only believe this if one of the pics had someone grabbing the point of one of the horns other wise its shopped….it would need a much bigger neck to support the fuckers

  • Char Posted on October 17, 2008

If you don’t believe this…then take a day trip to Mountain Home, Arkansas and see how big he really is! And that’s no bull!

  • Joe L Posted on October 17, 2008

I have an entire portfolio of photoshop work. I also have a degree in video and audio production. I could photoshop a picture similar to this but not so mant times to scale in succession. Besides, I watched the video that B-Dog posted back in June. Watch it, Google Ellen and Lurch for the YouTube Video, or pick up a Guiness and look for him. He’s real.

  • outlawwoman Posted on November 1, 2008

My Dad has been following Lurches Story from the very beginning. This is one fascinating animal. And yes he is real!!! I would love to see him.

  • Becca A. Posted on May 4, 2009

This is real. Janice Wolf has Lurch and other amazing animals at her place. They are all very cared for. I completely enjoyed meeting Lurch and the others. 🙂

  • ANNE Posted on May 5, 2009

First of all, this is no C O W!!!

  • metharill Posted on June 18, 2009

this is not a photo shop.

  • smogzilla Posted on June 24, 2009

I just saw a blub on the local news here in Arkansas. The bull has cancer at the base of one of the horns and is going to die. The bull is 14 years old.

  • neighbornear Posted on July 12, 2009

Definately real. I live in Lakeview, AR, which is very near to where he is. Have taken many people to visit him. I heard a rumor he has cancer. I hope it’s not true. I do know he hasn’t been out in the field for a long time.

  • Marty Posted on July 22, 2009

The photos are real. You can also find Lurch in the Guiness Book of World Records. My neighbor is in Arkansas and visited Lurch in person. She said the rescue he lives at is open to the public. Many other animals live there as well and my neighbor said the animals are very well cared for. It is true that poor Lurch has cancer in one of his horns and the cancer is spreading. I believe my neighbor also said the horns are still growing. This animal rescue operates on donations, so to all you non-believers, go visit Lurch in person and make sure to donate generously.

  • Christian Posted on September 3, 2009

the very last picture has a shadow of the horns, it’s the only picture where the sun is set right and his shadow doesnt extend past the frame.
So…stfu about this being fake. there’s ppl that weigh over a thousand pounds, did they photoshop themselves into a bed they can’t get out of?
What’s more probably and likely to happen in nature, a bull growing huge horns? or human beings growing to look like a snorlax?

  • mark Posted on October 3, 2009

For all you non believers out there, i am jans next door nieghbor. I must admitt, the local newspaper photos did not do lurch justice. To see him for my first time left me stunned, as this bulls horns are huge. Its something you have to see in person to fully grasp it.
Lurch really does have cancer, however, he is recovering well and has gained 150 lbs since jan began feeding him a special diet. Jan works VERY hard with all her animals, horses, water buffalo, zebra, sheep, goats, deer, and many others. So for all you photoshop people, come see lurch, then retract your ignorance.

this is real. it is not photoshopped! Lurch was so cool. i seen him this summer. that ladies place is awesome. there were even deer there that gave me a kiss. what she does is awesome!

  • Kyle Posted on January 18, 2010

kind of cruel to leave them horns on that animal like that, id like to see the owner of this bull put an extra 200 pounds on the back of their head and see how long they can live with it! No doubt the bullès horns are amazing, but have some god damn respect for the animal, take some pictures then cut em off!!

  • Rheanna Posted on April 2, 2010

This is not photoshopped. I watched a program featuring him…He is a steer…. and all steers will grow larger horns. We raise Texas Longhorn Cattle and have for many years. I’m not saying the only reason his are so large is because he is steered, but i’m 100% positive it is a contributing factor. We have a longhorn steer whose horns are absolutely massive. For those that don’t know, steers are bull calves that are castrated (testicles removed) before they reach sexual maturity, usually within the first few weeks of life. And to the people saying its cruel to leave his horns on him, how would you feel if we chopped your arms off? Those horns are very useful to the bull, they carry blood over the surface area of the horn where the blood is then cooled and returned to the body, acting as a cooling system for the animal. Don’t be an ignorant ass…. do some research before you run your mouth and look like a fool. Obviously they aren’t bothering him, his body grew the horns itself and i’m sure it has made adjustments accordingly, i.e. larger more developed neck muscles to carry the extra weight.

  • the gay wing man Posted on August 24, 2010

i love the fools that keep saying “photo shopped”, when there is vids and some one that lives next to the person just said some thing about him, not only has he been on MANY shows he is in GBOWR, lol….silly people just cuz you dont wanna believe some thing DOES NOT MEAN ITS NOT REAL….grow up, your just pissy cuz you have to photo shop YOUR PHOTOS!!!!maybe to make that thing look a bit bigger… BAM!

  • Andre Posted on July 26, 2011

Wouldnt wanna be put in a bull match with that thing a cape wouldnt save ya!

  • miklos legrady Posted on September 1, 2011

those horns are totally photoshop-ed! No animal could carry that much weight without a huge neck at least twice the size of this beast.
