There’s no question that nature is awesome, but sometimes we come across natural phenomena that look so incredible we just can’t believe our eyes. Case in point, this unusual spot on the Australian coast where four waves crash against each other on a shallow rockbed, sending splashes of water up to 70 meters into the sky.

The ‘world’s craziest wave’ was captured by Chris White and Ben Allen, two members of an indie film crew based in Australia, earlier this month and shared on social media, where it quickly went viral. But White says he first discovered this magical place nine years ago, andthey just checked the place again this year, just to see if it still existed. And lo and behold, it was just as amazing as before.

“The second I saw it [on footage], I thought it was AI,” Whitey told Stab Mag. “Even though I saw it in real life, I didn’t know it would look like that. But I assure you, that’s not AI. It looks crazy from the side, but once we got the drone footage. I had no idea that a wave could wrap in from every direction. I thought it was like two waves, but it’s four peaks all coming together at the same time.”

“I’ve shot a lot of waves, explored so many hours in my life, and I’ve never seen anything remotely close to that,” Whitey added. “It’s just a spectacle. I showed this guy, and he goes, ‘Wow, that’s cool you captured that. That’ll never happen again. That’s where they lose ships in the Bermuda Triangle, that kind of stuff. You’ll never see it again.’ But we captured it happening over and over and over again. He just didn’t believe it. And he’s one of the most renowned oceanographers in Australia.”

For safety reasons, the filmmakers did not disclose the exact location of this fascinating phenomenon, and that’s probably for the best. It would just become a magnet for social media influencers and models looking for unique places to take a selfie. This way, we can all just enjoy the magic by watching the mind-bending footage.
