28-Year-Old Woman Suffers Severe Appearence Changes During Pregnancy

Whispered into existence by

A 28-year-old Malaysian woman recently shared the dramatic transformation she suffered during her pregnancy, when her face became inflamed and full of wrinkles, like an old woman’s.

Farah Faizal, a marketing manager living in Malaysia, caused a stir on social media when she posted an image of her incredibly deformed face while pregnant at the end of June. Her face looked like that of an old woman, with deep wrinkles, an enlarged nose and ears, and pustules everywhere. The skin routine she had relied on for years was completely ineffective, and things worsened in the later stages of her pregnancy. Every morning when she woke up, new pustules appeared on her face, and her skin was itchy and inflamed. The whole experience was deeply traumatic, and Farah credits her husband for helping her overcome it while maintaining her sanity.

“I survived 9 months of chaos, cried my eyes out over my face, and now I am a mother of a child. The healing process is ongoing,” the young woman wrote on social media on August 1st.

“I can’t imagine being with anyone else in this life,” Faizal said about her husband. “My husband is my home, soothes my fears, holds my lips when I panic. He always reminds me how beautiful, strong and worthy of love I am.”

Luckily, after delivering her child, Farah’s condition improved considerably, and a recent photo shared on social media shows a shocking difference. Most of the inflammation is gone, as are the pustules, and the 28-year-old woman hopes to be back to her old self soon.

Farah Faizal’s story got shared millions of times and received millions of likes on social media, but not everyone appreciated her posts. Some critics accused her of sharing personal details about her life, and others that she photoshopped her photos for attention. In response to the negative feedback, the young mother announced that she will no longer be sharing details about her condition on social media, explaining that she only wanted to highlight the traumatic changes that women can go through during pregnancy.

“I don’t owe anyone an explanation,” Faizal wrote. “But the truth is, my mental health is affected when some people unintentionally ignore what pregnancy hormones can do to a woman’s body, skin and emotions.”

Earlier this year, we featured the very similar story of Li Wei, a Chinese woman who suffered a shocking physical transformation during her pregnancy.
