Jewelry Store Owner Has 2-Carat Diamond Embedded into His Artificial Eye

Whispered into existence by

After completely losing sight in his right eye, an Alabama jewelry store owner decided to personalize his new fake eye by having a diamond embedded in it.

Alabama native Slater Jones might just have the world’s most expensive prosthetic eye. After losing his right eye as a result of a terrible illness, the young jewelry store owner turned to eye prosthetic expert John Lim to create a custom artificial eye to truly reflect his identity as a jewelry designer. Featuring a two-carat diamond at its center, the unique ‘gem eye’ sparkles when it catches the light, making it a guaranteed conversation starter wherever Jones goes.

“I lost my eye, but it brought new light into my life,” Jones said about his unusual accessory, adding that the ice made it more than a simple medical device; it made it an art piece.

“I’ve made about 10,000 artificial eyes for babies as young as six weeks old and as old as 101, but this is the most valuable prosthetic eye in terms of materials,” John Lim said about the unique prosthesis.

Slater Jones’ diamond eye has been getting a lot of attention on social media ever since he first unveiled it to the public months ago, but while some praised his creativity, others expressed concern for his safety due to the obvious danger of walking around with a genuine diamond in your eye socket.

Shouldn’t you be careful every time you go outside?” one person asked.
