A Mexican man is accusing his ex-wife and her plastic surgeon boyfriend of causing the death of his 14-year-old daughter by performing various plastic surgery procedures on her, including breast implants.
Paloma Nicole Arellano Escobedo tragically lost her life at a hospital in Durango, Mexico, after suffering cerebral edema due to a respiratory illness, but her father claims that the real cause of death has nothing to do with the official report. Carlos Arellano accused both the 14-year-old girl’s mother and her plastic surgeon partner of causing Paloma’s death by performing breast enhancement surgery on her without his consent. According to Mexican news media, Paloma allegedly underwent a number of procedures, including breast augmentation, a Brazilian Butt Lift (fat-filled buttock lift), and liposuction. The case has caused public outrage in Mexico, and authorities have launched an investigation into the teen’s death.

“The death certificate falsely listed ‘respiratory illness’ as the cause of death in an attempt to cover up the truth. They handed it over to us immediately. I don’t know how they got it so quickly,” Carlos said. “I demand that all those responsible be investigated.”
The devastated father filed a complaint after his daughter’s funeral, claiming there was “more to her death” and accusing his ex-wife of a cover-up. He told Mexican reporters that he had spoken to the teen’s mother about a week prior to her death, and she had told them that they were going to the mountains because Paloma had tested positive for Covid-19. Days later, she called to tell him that she had been hospitalized with a serious condition. It was only during the funeral that he realized something was off.

“At the funeral, some relatives told me that her breasts were bigger than before, and when I mentioned this to her mother, she said it wasn’t true, that she didn’t know anything,” Carlos said. “That night, I asked her mother to leave the room so I could talk to her and say goodbye. For some reason, she didn’t want to. We examined my daughter, and sure enough, she had breast implants. We have photographs of the implants and the scars.”
The girl’s father didn’t confront his ex at the funeral, but he took the evidence to the police the next day and demanded an investigation into the matter. He is convinced that the procedure was a gift from Paloma’s mother for her upcoming 15th birthday and was carried out by her new partner, a plastic surgeon. Now he wants them to face justice.
Although the investigation has yet to prove any of Carlos Arellano’s allegations, Paloma’s death has inflamed the whole of Mexico, prompting even President Claudia Sheinbaum to get involved.
