Man Refuses to Give Up His Louis Vuitton Bag at Gunpoint

Faced with a choice between their life and their valuables, most people would choose the former in a heartbeat, but one Michigan man showed that he would rather die than part with his beloved designer bag.

On Monday, May 21, Jerad Kluting was out for a walk in Michigan’s Holland Township when a masked robber came out of nowhere, pulled out a gun from his waistband and demanded that he hand over his bag. But this was no ordinary bag. It was a $1,700 Louis Vuitton that Kluting had fallen in love with the moment he saw it. He had saved up the money to buy it for a long time, and he wasn’t going to just give it up to a stranger, even if his life was on the line.

“It happened very fast. In one motion he took the gun out of his waist belt and with the other hand put up a bandana over his mouth and pointed, was like, ‘Give me your bag,'” Kluting told WOOD TV. “I was like, ‘You’re not getting my Louis Vuitton.’ I worked very hard for this and this bag I’ve had forever and it means a lot to me’. I wasn’t about ready to relinquish it to some thug that was going to demand it from me.”

The robber wasn’t too impressed with Jerad’s speech and fired a warning to let him know just how serious he was about getting that bag. But that wasn’t enough to scare the owner, who in turn continued clutching his prized possession to show the masked man that he would rather die than part with it.

“He fired the second shot. And then I took off running,” Kluting recalled. “And then I heard a third shot and actually there were four shots. The third shot scared me because I heard that go off behind me. And I was actually waiting to be hit by it. But they say you’ll never hear the shot that hits you. I looked over my shoulder. He was running away.”

Jerad Kluting called the police as soon as the robber was out of sight, and it didn’t take long for the robber, a 21-year-old man, to be caught. He’s since been arrested and charged with armed robbery, felony possession of a firearm, and receiving and concealing stolen property. As for Kluting. he’s happy to be alive and still rocking his designer bag.

“I got my bag, you can pry it out of my cold, dead hands,” he told reporters.

Sheesh, talk about brand loyalty…
