Russian Man Hilariously Tries to Sell 3-Room Apartment Using Quentin Tarantino

A resident of Chelyabinsk, in western Russia, recently got his five minutes of online fame after his apartment sale ad went viral on social media for featuring renowned film director Quentin Tarantino.

The last thing you would expect to see while looking at photos of apartments to buy is an internationally famous director seemingly inspecting the premises and giving a thumbs up. That’s exactly why Alexander Kainov, from the Russian city of Chelyabinsk thought that adding some cutouts of Reservoir Dogs director Quentin Tarantino to his real-estate photos to make it look like he had actually visited the apartment would be a great way of attracting attention. Making a property stand out among hundreds, if not thousands of similar ones, isn’t the easiest thing in the world, but apparently adding some Tarantino works like a charm.

Kainov was inspired to use cutouts of Quentin Tarantino by a meme trend kickstarted by a recent visit of the talented filmmaker to Moscow. The internet exploded with hilarious memes featuring Tarantino in all kinds of settings, and the apartment owner decided to ride the same wave and hopefully sell his unimpressive-looking apartment faster.

Unfortunately, Alexander Kainov has yet to sell the apartment, but he did achieve his goal of attracting attention. Photos of the apartment featuring Quentin Tarantino went viral on Facebook soon after being posted, and were eventually picked up by mainstream media publications like Esquire Russia and RIA News.

“I have not been able to sell the apartment yet, but the ad did get about 6,000 views in 5 hours,” Kainov told RIA. “Viral marketing was very interesting, there are no active buyers yet, but it may reach Tarantino himself.”

The hilarious gimmick inspired hundreds of hilarious comments on Kainov’s original Facebook post, including questions like “does it come with the featured tenant?”, to which the poster answered that the director had unfortunately just stopped by for a quick visit.

Just in case you’re interested in this now famous property, the three-bedroom apartment is located in Chelyabinsk on Kopeyskoye Shosse, measures 67 square meters and costs 2.3 million rubles ($34,900).
