Not a long ago we showed you some pictures of people suffering from “over-piercing”, as we like to call it, folks who had either too many piercings, or just few and totally disturbing. Now we bring you the latest in piercing fashion, eyelid piercing, that’s right, eyelid, the piece of skin covering that incredibly sensible organ known as the eye. Others might find it cool, I think it’s plain stupid.

If you walk around with metal in your face just try to be a nice person, because if you like to fight and be belligerent then its fair game if i start to pop you like a hand grenade when it comes down to business….

You know i’m an apprentice piercer, and i do research every day on new and crazy piercings. A friend of mine has volunteered her flesh for me, to practice on, basically, and i’ve fashioned her with just about every ring you can think of. I always look for really crazy ones to give her too, by request from her.
But this….
Even if she offered to pay me, even if she offered to pay me double..
I would never, in a MILLION years, ever do this to her, this is just…..that goes outside my comfort zone!!! WAYYYYY too many different flavors of infection could sprout from that you could lose your EYESIGHT!! AHHH screw that!

Wow!!

Wow… is all I can say! What the hell is wrong with people?! Okay yeah, I’ve got a couple piercings, my ear’s done a couple times and I had a labret (took it out, ate away part of my gum line) also I want to get a couple more… but your EYELID?! First of all, anyone remember hard contacts? Probably not because they were so damaging for your eyes, basically putting pieces of glass directly on your eyeballs. Now we’re putting METAL on your eyes and RUBBING your eye thousands of times per day by blinking?! Are people INSANE?!

Guys…. there’s a reason all the rings are on the edge of the eye.
That way it doesn’t mess with your sight. or your ability to blink.
personally, I like it.

I’m a trained piercer and wouldn’t be happy doing this. Not only is there high risk of infection, and the posibility of ending up blind, but surely when the eyeball is made up of a jelly like substance with a permable ’skin’ over it it’s gonna cause problems. The rings gonna moe a lot, and is likely to cause the eye major problems

It just means that their not experienced enough to do it ; which means it’s probably not a good idea to go there neways.

I am a practicing optometrist and when done properly there is very low risk in this form of body art. The body produces a cleansing fluid that constantly washes the eye every time you blink which also in turn cleans the eyelid. My daughter had this done to be ironically rebelous so I did some research. As long as the piercing is no more then 1/16th of an inch from the furthest most point of the eye opening then it will not damage the eye or impair vision. As for infection, do to the cleansing fluid produced by the body, there is very little chance of infection as long as you dont scratch your butt then your eye. Which you shouldn’t do anyways.

You may think piercings are “plain stupid” but tell that to the thousands, if not millions, of people who have them all over their body. It’s a release to feel that needle tearing through tissue. So who are you to say whether it’s stupid or awesome or kinky? You’re no one. Just another grain of sand in the beach called existance.

I do have to admit, some of em look kinda cool. But there’s no way I would have this done. It seems like people are finding more and more ways to mutilate their bodys in the name of art and fashion. I have a saying, if you’re gonna play with fire, expect to get burned. Having metal inserted that close to your eye, if you’re really lucky you’ll only go blind and not lose your eye intirely. I have to wonder if these peoples parents ever play football with them. And I mean “With them”, i,e them being the ball. Because, the amount of brain damage you must have to want to do that to yourself can only come from being kick as a baby, over a field goal.
