Spooky Don’t look at the photos and video if you’re a big animal lover, it’s “a little” hard to take in…
This “bay of blood” set somewhere in the Faroe Islands is where hundreds, sometimes thousands of pilot whales are literally butchered alive by hungry locals. The hunt known as Grindadrap is centuries old and it hasn’t changed much since then, except for the power-boats, radios and echo-sounders which make life a lot easier for the butchers. They round the poor whales into the shore with the power-boats and when they get really close, the locals plunge into the waves and start hooking them to death in a horrific manner. Then they drag the carcasses to shore and start skinning them and splitting the meat and blubber between all the islands’ inhabitants.
The Faroes economy relies only on economic fishing, but that doesn’t give them the right to slaughter 544 Atlantic white sided dolphins in a single day, like they did in 1988.
recently, studies have shown that the meat and blubber of pilot whales contain high amounts of mercury, PCBs, DDT and dieldrin. For what they do every year these animals deserve to get much more than mercury poisoning.

This is only cruel because you are humanizing the dolphins in your mind. When I go to a lake, throw in a fishing line and wait for a fish to bite the hook, I pull back with a quick thrust and jab a sharp barbed hook into the fish’s cheek. Most people do not consider fishing cruel, but if you treat those fish like humans, fishing would be illegal. Regardless of whether it is right or wrong the truth about nature is that we are successful because our nature is to kill. We are predators, and we should think and act like predators. Bears have no moral qualms about killing something when it is hungry, why do we? Our species has the largest pack size of any terrestrial animal, and one of the advantages of a pack is to kill more efficiently. These people are prime examples of why we are the dominant species. Bloody nasty and cruel, call it what you will, but the nature of man is every bit a part of nature as the herbivore plains animals. If you believe that men and animals are no different, the you should not judge us differently than a shark, if you believe that men are better than animals, you should have no remorse for the animals we slaughter.
It’s only natural to kill animals! And besides, dolphins deserve death, fu*king gay whales!
I sincerely hope one day that a freak mass of renegade sharks smells that blood one day and eats them all D: Oh yeaaah, mankind is sooo intellectual and waaay past our primitive ancestors and their brutal, pointless, testosterone driven antics… ><

This is such an inhumane slaughter of the whales. hooking them to death??? these animals, if killed, deserve to be killed more humanely.
I grew up in a place where people raise pigs and then kill them with a knife when it is “time for food”. It was kind ot normal at that time. I asked myself: Why is this different than a pig killing that occured in my past. Than I remembered people tourning heads, hiding in a house, kids crying when the killing occured. Symply nobody enjoyed it. Here we have some kind of festival, plenty of kids around, looks like lot’s of fun this see a sea of blood. These pictures made me sick to my stomack. Really looks like a festival to me. WHY, TELL ME WHY WOULD I BRING MY KIDS TO WATCH THIS. I knew scandinavians are cold, but didn’t now know they were this bloody cold. Shame on you for ENJOYING this (let’s say I trust you you do this only for food and not for fun).

Don’t misunderstand me – I am very much against this outdated custom. But I warn those who attempt to change the Faroese mindset: it’s a total waste of time swearing and cursing etc. You need a considered approach, perhaps offering solutions, showing a mature understanding of their situation (not AGREEING with them at all – just being aware of their traditions and their thinking). Generate a global groundswell with reason, clarity, purpose, calmness.
Write to the Faroes Government, NOT the Danish one (it’s not the Danes’ issue, it’s the Faroes’ killings). Aggression will only run off their backs and entrench their behaviour (they are after all descended from Vikings!!).

I AM ASHAMED FOR BEING A HUMAN
While I’m against this, it is a little hypocritical to whine about it. Ever seen the conditions in slaughterhouses in the west? They are far from pretty and the cows, pigs, sheep, etc that get killed for your meat do suffer to an extent.
