Eye Art – Talented Makeup Artist Uses Her Eyes as Canvas for Tiny Masterpieces

Tal Peleg is an experienced makeup artist who goes beyond the usual tricks of the trade to create beautiful artworks in the space between her eyebrows and her eyes.

They say makeup itself is an art form, but if that’s true, what do we even call what Israeli Tal Peleg does, magic? The talented makeup artist uses both standard makeup and watercolors to create all sorts of intricate scenes – from iconic film or cartoon scenes, to original designs – on her own eyes, using very thin paint brushes. The 34-year-old artist takes between 1.5 hours and 4.5 hours (2.5 hours on average) to complete on of her amazing eye artworks, depending on the level of complexity.

“Art has been a huge part of my life ever since I can remember. My mother is a ceramic artist, so I come from quite an artistic home,” Tal Peleg told Beauty Launchpad.

“As a little child, I was always painting and creating stuff. I used my young sister as a “model” for all kinds of photo shoots and weird makeup experiments. In high school I participated in theatre and acting classes, and I did the stage makeup for the other actors. That was my first experience with professional makeup.”

Tal then went on to attend makeup school, and did four years of visual communication studies after that, where she studied things like design, photography and illustration. But choosing a professional career proved difficult, because she loved doing so many different things, like makeup, photography and painting. She found a way to combine them all through her unique eye art.

“I create all the body art on my own eye, and I use mostly eyeshadows, eyeliners and watercolors, and of course – super tiny brushes,” Tal Peleg wrote on Bored Panda. “Each of these cool makeup looks takes hours of work, and lots of patience, but I really enjoy every moment of the process!”

Tal started posting her tiny eye artworks on her blog a few years back, and got a great response, so she kept at it, later posting her creations on social media as well. Today she has over 200,000 fans on Instagram alone, and uses her art to both pay tribute to things that inspire her, and raise awareness to social issues like bullying and mental disorders.
