McDonald’s Restaurant in the “Middle of Nowhere” Sparks Conspiracy Theories

A McDonald’s restaurant that only opened a week ago has already gone viral on social media because of its unusual location – in rural Quebec, Canada, surrounded by farmland.

McDonald’s is one of the world’s most recognizable brands, and one of the ways it built this reputation was by opening restaurants in busy areas that all but guaranteed a certain number of potential customers. However, a newly opened location has been drawing attention for flipping that recipe on its head. The new McDonald’s restaurant located at 8075 Avenue Marcel-Villeneuve in Saint-François is surrounded by farmland and is apparently not even connected to the power grid, instead functioning on a generator.

“It’s literally in the middle of farm field,” tiktoker @thumbs.up.canuck, who lives near the restaurant, said. “It’s surrounded by farms, and there’s not even electricity yet. They’re running the damn place on a generator! That’s crazy!”

The tiktoker’s short clip showcasing the bizarrely isolated McDonald’s has been viewed tens of thousands of times and sparked several conspiracy theories and rumors online. Some believe that McDonald’s agreed to sell its franchise there because it knows something everybody else doesn’t – the surrounding land is about to be sold to developers, and the whole area is about to be full of new houses. Basically, McDonald’s got in early, before the price of land blew up.

“Then you know what’s coming they wouldn’t put it there for nothing,” one TikTok user commented.

“All the surrounding farms are about to be purchased and sold to developers,” someone else wrote.

It’s unclear if any of these theories are true, as McDonald’s Canada has yet to comment on the unusual location of this restaurant.
