South Korean Woman Has Drunk 150,000 Cans of Coke in the Last 40 Years

If you’re the kind of person who thinks drinking Coke every day is a sure way to an early grave, this 74-year-old woman who has been basically living on the popular soft drinks for four decades would like a word with you…

Back in February, South Korean YouTube channel X SBS featured the unusual story of a pensioner who has allegedly been drinking nothing but Coca Cola for the past 40 years. Interestingly, she isn’t one of those people who just can’t stand water, or who has been drinking Coke from a young age and could never be weaned off of it. Her Coke addiction is related to a traumatic event – the loss of her husband, the love of her life, at the age of 34. The woman said that she turned to Coke the way other people turn to alcohol to drown their sorrows, and only became more addicted to the drink even more after also losing her son in a traffic accident.

Latvian Man Drives Rusty Car into Pool Filled with 12,000 Liters of Coke

An elderly man in Latvia recently got his 15 minutes of fame after a video of him driving an old Audi into a makeshift pool filled with 6,000 two liter bottles-worth of Coke to see if it would help get rid of the rust, went viral this week.

The eccentric 73-year-old Latvian, whose name has not yet been revealed, claims that he spent around $8,700 setting up the bizarre yet hilarious experiment. He started out by digging a large hole on his farm, near Sheder, south-east Latvia, lining it with thick plastic foil, and then proceeded to empty a whopping 6,000 two-liter bottles of Coke into it. For his first trick, he poured 88 pounds of baking soda into the fizzy pool, attempting to create a spectacular chemical reaction, but seeing that nothing too impressive happened, he got into his old Audi 80 and decided to drive it into the pool to see if the Coke would clean up all the rust.

Man Drinks 10 Cans of Coke a Day for Three Months to Show the Harmful Effects of High Levels of Sugar

50-year-old George Prior wanted to show the world just how harmful Coca-Cola can be to the human body. So he embarked on a special ‘Coke diet’ challenge during which he consumed 10 cans of Coke a day for three months. That’s 35 g of sugar per can, and a total of 350 g of sugar every day, which is the equivalent of 70 sugar cubes. Needless to say, the results were not good.

George’s formerly healthy and muscular physique has now changed drastically. His Coke guzzling habits gave him a pot belly, he lost muscle mass, and his weight shot up from 168 lb to 192 lb. His blood pressure also soared from 129/77 to 145/96 – way above the ideal 120/80. All these alterations to his body have greatly increased the risk of heart disease or stroke.

George also said that he was experiencing intense cravings and feared he was becoming addicted to Coca-Cola. He did try his best to stick to his normal Paleo diet with low carbohydrates, lean meats, vegetables and berries, but he couldn’t shake off the sugar cravings that hit him from time to time. In fact, he found it difficult to eat as much food because all that Coke made him feel full at lunch and dinner times. And the actual drinking was an ‘irritating chore’ because of the constant visits to the restroom and a clutter of cans everywhere.
