For decades, maybe centuries, the phrase “going to the toilet” has been a part of our everyday lingo, regardless of language or culture, but, like many other things, AI may just make it obsolete. Because, with the help of advanced technology, the toilet can now come to you, wherever you are.

At this year’s Shanghai International Aged Care, Assistive Devices, and Rehabilitation Medical Expo, Chinese accessibility technology brand Yueban unveiled its revolutionary Xiaoban smart toilet, which can essentially be described as an AI-powered autonomous robot toilet designed primarily for individuals with disabilities, semi-disabilities, or mobility impairments.

Thanks to an AI 3D Obstacle Avoidance System, the Xiaoban smart toilet can navigate environments to cater to the needs of its users, but it’s a lot more than a glorified mobile toilet! Once it has been used, it once again activates its Lidar to travel to its docking station to get rid of its smelly load.

The robot toiletțs dedicated docking station hooks into the home’s existing plumbing, so it flushes everything to the system through a low-noise grinder that prevents any kind of unwanted blockages. Once empty, Xiaoban begins a thorough self-cleaning system, using pressurized water jets and UV light to ensure that it is sanitized and ready for the next call of nature.

To ensure that the air remains fresh and breathable wherever it is used, the Xiaoban smart toilet uses a heavy-duty odour-neutralising system, featuring a foam shield and activated charcoal filters.

Yueban’s Xiaoban robot toilet is already available on the Chinese market for around $13,000. There is no word yet on whether or when it will be sold outside of China, but it definitely looks like a sign of things to come in the near future.
