Full Life in Just Half the Body

35-year-old Kevin Easterday was born with a rare condition that prevented his spine from developing correctly. His legs were amputated, when he was only a baby, but that hasn’t stopped him from living life to the fullest.

A strange illness, known as sacral agenesis, made it necessary for doctors to amputate Kenny’s legs, when he was only six months old. Part of his shinbone was used to create the missing part of his spine, but Kenny lost the ability to walk. Believe it or not, Mr. Eastearday was able to live a rich happy life, regardless of his handicap.

During a documentary, Kenny’s father reveals he taught his son to walk using his hands, by telling him to imitate his mother, who “walks like a duck”. As a child, he was offered a pair of prosthetic legs, but he didn’t really find them very useful, so he always used his hands, or a skateboard, to get around.

Although he wasn’t expected to reach the age of 21, Kenny not only beat the odds, but enjoyed life, in the process. He learned to play pool, bowl, work, and even make love to his fiancee,Nicky. To top things off, the happy couple is waiting for confirmation that Desiree, their 7-year-old daughter, is actually Kenny’s daughter.

You’re revolting, you shouldn’t be allowed to comment! And it’s a he, not an it! Do you think he has a choice on how he turned out?

FYI! HE DOESN’T!!! HE DID NOT CHOOSE TO BECOME THIS WAY!!! SO SHUT UP!!! Try and imagine being borned with no legs, how would you feel if you were treated differently?!!!

    Go Sarah!

So many people in this world are too easy to judge others, Kevin was born like this, what choice did he have, goodness what people live i this world with such little brains to say such words about people and be so judgmental about those who have no choice over how they look, sad!

What an amazing person you are! I enjoyed watching you on Discovery and am truly amazed by the lack of complaining that you do..So many of us complain about insignificant things, yet you push through every little task. You are truly an Angel among us.. God put you here for a special purpose. Don’t let stupid little comment get you down. You are gorgeous by the way…Love those lips!
    God Bless!

    To Lurine Pickes&Sarah:
No, he did not chose to be born like this – this is his parent’s and his government’s job to correctly handle sitatuions like this. In my opinion, children like those sould be euthanised before or shortly after birth. This way, they will be spared life full of suffering, and an equavalent of natral selection (which we partially lost due to progress in medicine) will be held. Come on, people – THIS is not what medicine was made for, damnit!!!!! Medicine is for curing those which can be cured, not for prolongating suffering of human being which was NEVER meant to live in first place! Only, and best thing we can help these unlucky kids at our technology level is painless death, and everyone should understand it. Compassion is about minimiztion of suffering in the world, not about tortures, and letting kid with such overwhelming defect to live is nothing esle then TORTURE.

Kenny: What you are is a miracle! You are a gift from God. Who says you aren’t normal? Define normal! You are more man than most men that walk among us today! As far as Katsu commenting on this site – IT isn’t even worth addressing as this IT is not a human but some worthless POS that has no soul or brain for that matter. I wish you and your wonderful parents all the best and I thank you for being such an inspiration to the rest of the world. You are simply amazing. Hugs to you Kenny! Laurie

Katsu: That’s not YOUR choice to make, you have no right to decide who lives and who dies. That is NOT up to you.

  • Angel Posted on March 23, 2011

To the one who thinks He should have been killed at birth..
I am sure you will then think I should be dead also.
I had a bone infection which went into my pelvis. I had an operation called a Hemicorporectomy which meant all of my body from bellow the belly button down had to be removed. Everything..There are only 18 of us alive in the world. We are like Kenny except we have no buttock, sexual parts, anus, hips,or spine from L3 down. I have two bags on my belly for waste removal. There has been about 180 operation done with only 28 living and now is only 18 of us left. Should we have just died in the 6 months the doctors told us we would die? my site is hemicorporectomy.org
