Presented at the beginning of 2009, Marussia has finally hit the streets of Russia, and we have the pics to prove it.
You’re probably wondering what a car has to do with an oddities blog, but i figured it’s not every day you see a super car that’s made in Russia. We first reported on the Marussia, in January of 2009, but if any of you had any doubts this futuristic looking beast would ever hit the streets, you were wrong. Livejournal user, quantum, took some awesome pics of the Russian super car, and it looks a lot better than I expected.
Marussia is the brain child of Russian GT driver, Nikolai Fomenko, and it’s the first GT model built in Mother Russia. Most of the parts, are however imported. Marussia features an ingenious light body that can be changed whenever you’re sick of the colors.
If you’re wondering if there’s more to this super car, than the aerodynamic look, you should know it’s got a 3.5 liter engine, and 300 bhp, under the hood. Marussia reaches 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.

Hardly a supercar with 300 horsepower… about the same as a hot hatch golf r32.
@bongoloid: That would also depend of the weight of the car, and a few other things.
Put that Golf R32 engine on a lightweight chassis, tune the electronic management system for sport-oriented performance, and you’ll get something totally different
@bongoloid
Except that it can out accelerate the Golf R32 by 1.8 seconds and likely weighs less. That classes it up with Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.
Looks like a re-worked Ford GT-40 from the front, and a Ferrari from the back. That puts it in good company, but not very original.
300 BHP not 300HP completely different.
Looks like a Ford-GT with another body kit.Looks ugly too
300BHP~~260HP at the wheels give or take for drivetrain efficiency (15% parasitic loss is about avg) Pretty disappointing unless its on the light side of 1000kg
In perspective the previous gen. BMW M3 produced 333BHP from a 3.2 litre engine. Thats 104BHP/litre vs the 84BHP/litre this produces. Doesn’t say much for Russian tuners and its downright pitiful should we find out its on boost. I question where the innovation lies?
That Marussia looks like a bad joke (especially on the performance side) and doesn’t impress me. A real Russian muscle car is the Volga V12 Coupe from 2001 (powered by a BMW engine).
Also there’s a cabrio version called Volga GAZ M21 eqquiped with a BMW V8 4.6 liter engine with maximum output of 368 hp.
it´s a supercar, but i recommend to take a look to the lamborgin serie starting from reventon and another supercar and compare it. it´s good but they must work hard, if they want a new futuristic design style, they can contact me. about engen, they are in the right way, but if want some ideas, i´m here waiting for them.
Looks liek a Pagani Zonda + Ford GT mix to me.
Id drive one, radical, nice, Install US engine & Bose sound system, GPS.
Pffft…my Fairlady 350z has 306bhp – and can go faster than this hideous looking monstrosity!
300bhp in a supercar is nothing to brag about!
Sorry to disappoint the haters, but it’s 420bhp Cosworth built Turbocharged 3.5L V6 in a 2,425lb car. It’s undoubtedly quick.
Super car is 500 bhp plus now. 300 and 400 bhp, there are japanese sedans with better numbers, heck a common Nissan Armada is running around with a 400 BHP engine, and a regular M3 has more performance numbers than this (3.9 seconds 0 to 60).
It looks awesome and I certainly don’t hate it, but a super-car is a super-car, and THAT is nothing more than lotus-challenging sports car.
that car looks fast i make it run for its money if it can beat the bugatti
