Kordeza Zhelyazkova, an 11-year-old girl from Bulgaria gave birth to a daughter, Violeta, during her wedding and became the youngest mother in the world.
Like all childhood love stories, Kordeza’s began at the playground. She was being harassed by a group of bullies, when Jeliazko Dimitrov, a 19-year-old boy appeared as her knight in shining armor. He rescued her and that’s when their romantic tale started. The young man thought she was 15 and she never revealed her real age, for fears he wouldn’t want to be with her. As the consentment limit in Bulgaria is 14, their sleeping together seemed normal to Jeliazko, but he didn’t plan on leaving her pregnant.
In Kordeza’s home town of Sliven, girls getting married as early as 13-years-old is tradition, but she pushed the envelope and even threw a pregnancy into the mix. Her family put together a Roma wedding, so the baby would be born to a real family. But the little one was too anxious and Kordeza went into labour on the second day of her wedding and was rushed to the hospital dressed in her wedding dress.
Now she might be forced to raise her child as a single mother, as her young husband faces jailtime for sleeping with a minor.

I don’t know about a 3 year old but there has been a 5 year old… Look it up. She started her period at 9 months though so if she’d been raped when she was 3 she definitely could have gotten pregnant so check it out before you go calling people idiots… if you didn’t even bother to look it up before jumping to conclusions you aren’t so bright yourself. It’s not so hard to go to google and type in “3 year old mother”… haven’t looked it up yet myself but I’m not being rude about it before I have. Look up the 5 year old. It’s true.
An amendment to my other post: a different source than the one I found previously states that the girl (who was a Peruvian girl named Lina Medina) started menstruating at 3 years, not 9 months. She gave birth to a baby boy (by c-section obviously) in May of 1939. The parents raised the boy as her brother instead of her son and he did not know until he was 10 that his “sister” was actually his mother. Also she did not have another child until 1972 33 years after her first son.

Are you nuts? its not even practically possible even if you tries to do that because its necessary first for a girl to reach a age when her mentural periods will start and then she can get pregnant and that time comes at the age of atleast 8 or above..
Some young girls get their periods at an extremely young age. It’s rare of course, but it does happen.
Many of you are very foolish. I don’t know about a three year old, but the five year old is true. As for when she began her mensus there is some debate. One publication says she was eight months old while a second states she was two and a half years old (not three), there is no doubt, however, that she did indeed deliver a baby boy by c-section when she was only five years, seven months and twenty-one days old herself securing her status as the youngest recorded mother in the world thus far. This young lady, Kordeza, is not even the youngest current mother. There was an eight year old from Peru in 2006, a nine year old from Brazil in 2006, and a ten year old from St. Anthony Idaho USA in 2008. Before you go and call something impossible, educate yourselves. I, personally, have a four year old daughter who has begun her mensus, it is extremely rare, but it has been known to happen.

I saw the article about the 5 year old mother online myself not too long ago. It happened in the 30’s in Peru. The parents brought her to the hospital because she had a tumor in the abdomen, and the doctor told the family she was pregnant! The baby was delivered via C-section, and so far that is the youngest mother documented. Her name is Lina Medina. Look it up.
The 5-Years old case I think her father actually did it.
Lina Medina was 5 years old when she became a mother. This is true. And Lina is still alive today. She is living in poverty and is seeking for help. I hope the government or someone near her can help her. What happened to her was a thing of the past. She needs help now.

There is a medical condition known as precocious puberty where girls start their mensus earlier than normal.
In extreme cases, the girl can be less than 10, and the lowest confirmed cases as mentioned above is of Lina Medina.
Females are born with all of the fully developed gametes (eggs) that they will ever release in their lives. The release of these gametes is regulated by hormone levels. Normally this starts to happen around the ages of 10-12, but any irregularity that would cause the early onset of hormone fluctuation would induce premature gamete release and the possibility of pregnancy.
Last I knew the youngest was 4 years old, but this definitely isn’t the youngest.
Either way she’s still way too young to have kids… all of the above are.

Angel – if you actually read the posts you would notice that the people who asserted that the youngest mother was 3 had been rebutted by people who actually did their research. Unlike you.
What bothers me about “youngest mothers” isn’t them – they’re just kids, and things happen to kids that are way beyond their ability to control or even influence. What bothers me is the fathers. The story above makes sense because from the photos it is obvious that this girl could pass for 15, so I have sympathy for her boyfriend/husband as well. It isn’t unusual anywhere in the world for 15 year old girls to be sexually active.
But the younger ones! There are cultures which impose motherhood on girls at the earliest possible moment. Girls giving birth in Africa at the age of 11 are neither rare nor unusual. Many of them end up with fistulas that interfere with their ability to function, cause family and village to reject them, and effectively destroy their lives. Their “husbands,” after getting rid of them because of the damage the pregnancy did to them, go on to “marry” other little girls and sometimes have exactly the same thing happen again.
The fact that this is socially acceptable in their culture makes me nauseous.
Kordeza Zhelyazkova is very fortunate that her body was in fact as developed as most 15 year olds. The fact that her boyfriend is facing the possibility of jail is sad and may even seem unfair – but I’d rather live in a world where a young man who makes a mistake is held accountable than one where grown men and women think it’s ok to destroy children – for any reason whatsoever.

I personally know a girl who gave birth at the age of 9(raped by a neighbor) and know a few girls who have started their menses in pre-school. It is not a common thing, but it happens. Girls are menstruating at younger ages now because of all the hormones our foods now. Can you believe a 7 year old growing breasts? It has happened. I read about the Lina Mendez story 2 years ago. Yes, people it is possible for a 5 year old to get pregnant. Just not common.
