Built back in the 10th century, the incredible well of Chand Baori, India was a practical solution to the water problem in the area. The arid climate forced the locals to dig deep for a dependable water source, one that would last throughout an entire year. Chand Baori well is 30 meters deep, it has 13 floors and 3,500 steps. Legends say that ghosts build it in one night and that it has so many steps to make it impossible for someone to retrieve a coin once it’s been dropped in the well.

A question to all you ignorant ones out there…this was built in the 9th century and not the 10th century AD when India was one of the richest regions in the world. India did not exist as a country but a separate kingdoms highly advanced in science / language etc. In fact check your history books about Mohenjodaro and Harrappa (one of the earliest advanced civilizations) By the way, can one remind me….what history does America have?
they really need to check the chemicals and shock it right away with chlorine..
HOW CAN THE LEGENDS SAY THAT THE WELL IS BUILT IN ONE NIGHT?
BUT IT REALLY STANDS AS FAME OF INDIA..
Why don’t the commenter try to clean the Indian dirt?????
Looks like the Hulk shit

Wow, and look at ‘em now. Guess everyone has their moment.
It gives me vertigo just thinking about walking down those steps! The comments on that page sort of ruin things, though. People can be dense sometimes.

Seems too bad that it’s fenced off so people can’t access the water anymore. A little chlorine, a little tuckpointing to fix the bricks and it’s a resource for people to use.
