Developed by Kyoto University Venture Business Laboratory, Bambgoo is a fully functional vehicle that runs for 50 kilometers on a single charge. This ecological concept car is 270 cm long, 130 cm wide, 165 cm high and only 60 kg heavy. That’s what’s so special about Bambgoo, its body is made out of bamboo. Hunterville is a village in New Zealand, established in 1884 by George Hunter and that according to the 2006 Census has a population of only 440. But that doesn’t stop it from gathering huge crowds from all over the island for the unique Huntaway Festival. The Huntaway is a fun festival featuring contests like the Dog Braking Contest, pig yarding, speed shearing and the main attraction, The Shemozzle. This a special obstacle race for men or women  and their dogs, across steep hills, slipery slopes and disgusting food-stops that include sheep eyes, worms, bugs and raw meat, just to name a few.The obstacles of the Shemozzle are evealed to the contestants only 3 minutes before the race so no one can say they are really prepared.

British love their minced meat pies so much, they actually invented a contest to see who can eat the most pies in ten minutes time. Kind of like the American hot-dog eating contest, only these minced meat-filled delicacies are a lot harder to gobble-down. This year The Big Eat took place on November 18, at Wookey Hole and it featured only British contestants. This after in 2007 American Sonya Thomas crossed the ocean to rob the Brits of their pie-eating title. She managed to eat 48 pies with the runner-up managing to swallow 15. This year the organizers wanted to have an English winner so only natives could register. Denzil Gunner claimed the top prize this year with 41 pies. He got $1000 and a trip to the USA to participate in their various eating contests and, hopefully, humiliate them on their own soil.

I remember seeing one of these photos on some random blog a while ago and I remember thinking “man I wouldn’t want to be in the shoes of the guy that pissed this dog off”. Today, after looking at the rest of the photos I realized the dog wasn’t angry at all, that’s how he expresses himself when he’s playing with his balls. I know this hardly qualifies as an oddity but I just loved the paint job on this Lamborghini and I thought I’d share it with you guys. Let me know what you think. This might just be the best paint job I’ve ever seen, if you think you’ve seen better, link me.

Remember the movie “Dumb and Dumber” starring Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels? That was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw this puffy treasure. I remember that goofy car of theirs with the red tongue sticking-out and this is comes pretty close. My compliments to the designer. Here is the Dog Car:

The Margay is a solitary wildcat with some very unique characteristics. Its look alone make it stand-out although it is very solitary people rarely have the chance to see it. The Margay is one of the few animals in the world that can climb trees with their heads facing down, thanks to their very special joints, able to turn up to 180 degrees. The Margay is on the endangered animals list, but no one really knows how large their population really is  between Mexico and Argentina.Margays don’t take well to humans invading their habitats and sacientists say they are so well adapted to life in trees that they can go their entire lives without touching the ground. Like all cats, Margay see very well at night and have no problem feeding of birds, reptiles and squirrels, if they can catch them. Ray Moon is well in his 80s but age has never been a problem when it came to his biggest passion, bodybuilding. He’s the oldest bodybuilder in the world and he looks awesome for his age. Here he is at the Victorian Bodybuilding Championship in Melbourne where he competed for the 2008 title.

There’s more than one side to everything, apparently the human brain included. Some ingenious minds created a sort of cube puzzle that shows the human brain from every side. Have a look:

An unusual restaurant recently opened in Riga, the capital city of Latvia. It’s themed as a hospital, with waiters and bartenders dressed as nurses and doctors. The tables look just like hospital operating tables, made out of stainless steel with wheel chairs or dentist chairs to sit in. The usual forks and knives have been replaced with scalpels, syringes and other medical tools, while the drinks are served in vials and medical bottles. Even the bathrooms have that crepy hospital feel. Red crosses are everywhere and that’s the last place I’d want to grab a bite, but apparently the Hospital Restaurant is becoming really popular. What happens when you try to build a car using parts from several different other cars. Well a Nissan Maxima owner from Kuwait wanted to find out first hand so he started working. He replaced the front of his Nissan with the front end of a BMW 7 series, the bumper of a BMW M3, he replaced the front doors with sleek Lambo doors, he got the hood split in half and got the rear wing of a Toyota Supra. You can check out the result for yourself, some will love it, others will hate it, there’s no in-between.

Although getting up-close and personal with a crocodile isn’t anyone’s idea of a good time, the recently opened Crocosaurus Cove theme park, in Darwin, Australia has introduced this situation as a breathtaking attraction. For about $80 anyone can be lowered in Choppa‘s underwater lair, in a reinforced acrylic cage for a 15 minute heart-thumping experience. Choppa is an aggressive saltwater crocodile rescued from a crocodile farm where he got into conflicts with other crocodiles. If Crocosaurus Cove hadn’t taken him in he would have been shot. Animal activists criticized the new attraction saying it was taunting the crocodile and intruding in his environment but the staff says the animal has been given a home and is treated like a king, a much better alternative than death. So if you’re ever in Darwin and looking for a unique thrill, head over to Crocosaurus Cove and meet Choppa. You can get the same adrenalin rush at the Crocodile Wildlife Ranch, in South Africa

Mice aren’t the most water-loving creatures in the world, but apparently Australian Shane Wilmott has trained his three little mice not only to love water but also to ride the waves on surf-boards. Shane says this way he has merged his love for surfing and for his three little rodent pets. Make sure you watch the video at the bottom of the post.

The last thing someone would expect to see in the Texas Desert is a luxury boutique, right? Well that’s what German artists Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset were thinking when they decided to build their Prada masterpiece near the town of Marfa. What looks like a small and elegant Prada shoe-store is actually just an art project, the shoes on display are real Prada creations but there is no door to this shop, so no, you can’t buy any of them. Miuccia Prada allowed the artists to use her brand for their art project and even picked out the shoes that are now on display. So if you’re ever in Marfa, Texas and you see the Prada boutique, just admire it from the outside, don’t force the door.

Well I doubt it, but you have to admit if this tuned up Smart would be the next Batmobile everyone’s jaws would hit the floor. I’m not holding my breath for this ever happening, but a guy can dream. The Batsmart concept was presented at SEMA 2008 auto-show.
