Esther Aular, a talented makeup artist from Bogota, Colombia, has been attracting a lot of attention on social media because of her impressive optical illusions. The 29-year-old influencer, who goes by ‘Nekita’ on TikTok and Instagram, has been posting photos and videos of her transforming herself into various pop-icons and fantastic creatures using only her makeup skills and rudimentary props. From characters of popular cartoons like The Simpsons or Naruto, to brain-twisting illusions that leave viewers scratching their heads about how she did them, Nekita always finds ways of leaving her tens of thousands of fans in awe. “This is not make up, it’s pure extraordinary piece,” one of the artist’s fans commented. “That confuses the brain, love it,” another wrote. “My type of makeup is surrealism and optical illusion looks. It takes four to six hours to do most looks but sometimes it can take eight to 12,” Esther Aular recently told SWNS. But it’s my art, my emotions, it’s what I live and love, so I find it easy to come up with ideas. I just take my face and do my makeup and become who I really am,” she added. While Nekita’s makeup and bodypainting skills are undeniable, the Venezuelan-born artist sometimes uses props like custom-made masks and bits of silicone to take her optical illusions to a whole other level.
