World’s Ugliest Dog 2009

Some of the ugliest dogs in the world gathered at the Sonoma-Marin Fair, California to compete for the title of World’s Ugliest Pedigree Dog.

Just like last year. the contest was dominated by a pure breed Chinese crested hairless. 15-year-old Miss Ellie has only a few of her back teeth left, cataracts in both eyes and her hairless body is covered with moles and pimples. Her dream is to travel the world and prove that ‘ugly’ is just a word and says nothing about her great personality.

Having been rescued herself, Miss Ellie hopes she can be a spokesmodel for not-so-cute rescue dogs. Along with the title of World’s Ugliest Pedigree Dog, Miss Ellie also received a big trophy and $1,000.

I wonder if, Gus, World’s Ugliest Dog 2008 competed this year, he was a great deal uglier than Miss Ellie.

Meet the Soon-to-Be Shortest Man in the World

Remember He Ping Ping, currently the shortest man in the world? Well, you’ll soon forget all about him as he’ll be stripped of his title by Khagendra Thapa Magar.

Nicknamed “Little Buddha“, by his fellow Nepalese villagers, Khagendra Thapa Magar is just 4 months away from officially becoming the world’s shortest man.He will be turning 18 and the Guinness Book of Records will have to acknowledge him as the tiniest human on the planet.

Khagendra has become quite  a sensation in  Nepal and even India and even his country’s politicians are fighting to see him recognized as the world’s smallest man. He travels Nepal as part of a dancing group only to let people know he will soon be in the record books.

Otherwise a very healthy individual, Khagendra has a malfunctioning pituitary gland that caused him to grow very slowly. His parents admit they were ashamed to be seen with him in the beginning, but now they feel proud to be the parents of the shortest man in the world. Khagendra Thapa Magar measures just 2 feet, 5 inches less than He Ping Ping.

A big karate and dancing fan, the petite Nepalese said he can’t wait to officially receive his title and fullfil his dream of traveling to the USA, to show the western world his dancing and karate skills.

World’s First Zero-Gravity Wedding

The bride and groom, both sci-fi fans, decided they didn’t want a conventional wedding so they opted for one in total weightlessness.

Noah Fulmore and Erin Finnegan, two love-birds from New York City, spent nearly $20,000 on a 90-minute-long zero-gravity wedding. The ceremony was performed in a modified Boeing 727 jet that takes roller-coaster-style dives, used to simulate the zero-gravity experienced by astronauts in space.

The couple also exchanged wedding rings made out of precious metal from a meteorite that crashed in Namibia 30,000 years ago. They said the experience was everything they hoped for.

The World’s Hairiest Competition

The World Beard and Mustache Competition was held in Anchorage, Alaska, and crowned its winner from one of the locals.

Contestants from as far as Turkey or Switzerland traveled to Alaska to compete for the title of hairiest man…sorry, for having the most beautiful facial hair. That doesn’t sound very nice either, but you know what I mean. There were 300 facial-hair enthusiasts, from eleven countries, fighting for this coveted title.

David Traver, a local boy, won the competition with his 20-inch beard, grown for a period of two and a half years, before being braided into the shape of a snowshoe.

FIT-PC2 – World’s Smallest PC

CompuLab has just introduced its new PC. It’s fast, quiet and most importantly, it’s tiny.

Designed around the Intel Atom Z530 1.6 Ghz processor, the smallish Fit-pc2 is a real power-saver too. It manages to run Microsoft Windows or Ubuntu Linux, using just 6W and can render full HD 1080p videos with just 7W.

The Fit-pc2 is fan and blower free, managing to stay cool thanks to its smart aluminum casing that dissipates heat. It may be just 4”x4.5”x1.05” (smaller that a CD), but it’s a pretty mean machine for its size. Here’s what u can find inside:
* 1.6GHz x86 CPU
* 1GB RAM
* SATA hard disk
* DVI with graphics acceleration
* High definition audio
* LAN and WLAN
* 6 USB ports

World’s Smallest Fast-Food Meal

And here I though the normal McDonald’s hamburger was small. This thing isn’t even big enough for a smurf.

I can understand why people would go out of their way to cook the world’s biggest hamburger, but the smallest? You don’t even get a nice, filling dinner out of it. But, as an artistic achievement, I guess it deserves some praise.

Ajay Kumar – The World’s Shortest Actor

Ajay Kumar, one of Bollywood‘s most popular comedy actors, has officially been acknowledged as the world’s shortest actor, by the Guinness Book of Records. He is only 75 cm tall.

At the young age of 32, Kumar, better known by his stage name, Unda Pakru, has starred in 50 movies, in his 13 years movie career. “Thanks” to his disability he has had much more success in Bollywood, than normal actors, and is now one of the most popular men in India.

Ajay was one of the most eligible bachelors in his home-town of Kerala, and he married Gayatri, in 2005. It was a fixed marriage, but apparently it was a match made in heaven. The actor’s five-months-old daughter is proof of that.

World’s Longest Motorcycle

The longest motorcycle in the world can be found in Russia.

It was built back in December of 2005, by Oleg Rogov, and acknowledged as the world’s longest bike by the Guinness Book of Records. This super-bike can fit 16 people, but the question that has been on everyone’s mind ever since it was first announced, was: can you ride it? It’s hard to believe 16 heavy bikers could move using the world’s longest motorcycle.

The design isn’t the best I,ve ever seen, nowhere near as cool as the Cat1 Uber-bike but definitely better than this Chinese home-made motorcycle.

World’s Dirtiest Job

Mike Rowe should give this dirty job a try.

I watch Dirty Jobs as often as I can, but I don’t think I’ve seen anything worse than what this poor guy has to do. At least no without some protective gear. I’m sure the smells of extreme poverty and starvation are a lot worse than the smell of sewers, but i still can’t figure out how he can clean that place up without puking…

These are the photos that make us appreciate our jobs, no matter how lousy we think they are. You think you got it bad, take a look at this guy:

World’s Smallest Car

It might not be exactly up-to standards design-wise, but the Peel P50 is the perfect car on a crowded street.

Only 50 cars were prodused and sold between 1963 and 1964, but only 20 are still around today. The original price was 200 pounds, but today you can’t buy one of these micro-cars with less than 35,000 to 50,000 pounds.

The three-wheeled car has only one door on the left side, one windscreen wiper and one headlight. At 134 cm in length and 99 cm in width, the Peel P50 mini-car was designed to accomodate one adult and a shopping bag.

You might not be able to ride in a micro-machine like the P50, but you will be able to observe one up close, at the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum, in London.

World’s Fastest Volvo

Volvo is known as one of the safest cars in the world, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make them go fast too.

Spotted on the streets of Johor, Malaysia, this car has to be the fastest Volvo in the world. As you can see in the photos, it has no less than 10 exhausts, countless gauges showing God knows what information, and the stickers on the back warn anyone foolish enough to want to race it, that it has fuel injection and twin turbo.

Not much more info on the web about this beast, but what more can anyone say really? The photos speak a lot louder than words.

World’s Largest Chocolate Fountain

The chocolate fountain at the Bellagio, in Las Vegas is simply delicious.

Rising 27 feet above ground, and touching the ceiling, the chocolate funtain in Jean Philippe Patisserie displays a spectacular series of small chocolate waterfalls, filled with white, dark and milk chocolate.

Over 2,100 punds of tasty melted chocolate circulate through this wonder of engineering, at a rate of 120 quats per minute. Designed by award-winning pastry cheff Jean Philippe Maury, the chocolate fountain of the Bellagio took a year and a half in planning and design alone.

Sadly the whole fountain is enclosed by a glass wall, so no, you can’t dip your finger in it for a taste. Maury says the glass maximizes the color of the three types of flowing chocolate.
