Two British backpackers fishing in Australia can consider themselves lucky to be alive after stupidly playing with a tiny blue-ringed octopus, whose painless bite can kill up to 26 adults in minutes.

A viral video posted on a Facebook group for backpackers shows daredevils Ross Saunders and Johnpaul Lennon dangling a blue-ringed octopus and letting it touch their skin, completely oblivious to the fact that a single bite could result in a painful death. The two adventurers had been fishing in Australia when they caught the yellow and blue spotted octopus, only instead of keeping it as far away as possible, they decided to play chicken with it, dangling the creature against their bare arms while laughing.

If you’ve visited a news site over the last couple of days, you’ve probably read this incredible story of a Russian “mummified” man who was found more dead than alive after being attacked by a brown bear and somehow survived for a month. Well, it case you haven’t already guessed, it’s fake.

The story of Alexander, a Russian man who had allegedly spent a month in a bear cave somewhere in Russia’s emote Republic of Tuva before being discovered by hunters, went viral yesterday, after major UK publications like Mail Online, Metro and The Sun picked it up and pretty much reported it as fact. In their defense, the news did originally appear on Siberian Times, a Russian news website that covers national events in English. They all claimed that the emaciated man who appeared in a very short clip was the unlikely survivor of a gruesome bear attack that had left him paralyzed. He allegedly told reporters that the beast had then dragged him to its den and kept him around as “tin-can” food to be eaten later. Luckily, he was found by hunters who ventured into the bear’s cave after being alerted by their dogs’ barking. The story ends with Alexander recovering on a hospital bed. A traffic agent in Uruguay is currently under investigation for using an official document for unauthorized purposes, after it was revealed that he tried to impress an attractive female driver by issuing her a ticket for “excessive beauty on public roads”.

The unusual incident occurred on May 25th, in the Uruguayan city of Paysandú. An unnamed traffic agent allegedly stopped a female motorist and, impressed by her physical looks, he proceeded to write her a ticket for “imprudence while driving (excessive beauty on public roads)”. To make his intentions obvious, the public servant also wrote “I love you” in the ‘observations’ section of the ticket. He was just trying to be cute and never imagined that the stunt could land him in hot water, but after the ticket was posted on social media and quickly went viral, his superiors started an investigation.

A Colombian man recently became the laughing stock of the internet after allegedly agreeing to be paraded naked on the roof of a car as punishment for cheating on his wife.

A video of a naked man lying on top of a white car and being paraded around the Colombian city of Barranquilla has been doing the rounds on Colombian social media for the last two weeks, and recently went viral worldwide. The bizarre scene reportedly occurred on May 15, when the man’s wife caught him in bed with another woman at a local motel. A vlogger from China who live-streamed herself trying to eat a live Pacific octopus ended up screaming in pain after the marine creature used its suckers to attach itself to her face.

The young woman, who goes by “seaside girl Little Seven” on popular Chinese video platform Kuaishou, was allegedly planning to eat the octopus on camera, although the video begins with the creature already stuck to her face. She can be heard calmly telling her fans “look how hard it’s sucking” before realizing that she can’t actually remove it without pulling on it really hard. A Malaysian man recently went viral after filming himself thrashing a brand new condominium in the heart of Kuala Lumpur because it wasn’t as luxurious as the developer had promised.

The unnamed man became an overnight internet celebrity thanks to a series of short Facebook clips in which he complains that the condo he allegedly paid $2million ringgit ($486,000) for is not up to his standards, then proceeds to spray-paint everything he dislikes about it, before taking a sledgehammer and breaking the furniture and marble floor. Talking to the camera, the man claims that he had tried contacting the developer, Tropicana Corporation Berhad, to voice his displeasure, but they ignored him, so he decided to turn his sub-par condominium into a showroom for the company, so that other buyers wouldn’t pay for the same level of “luxury”.

A photo of a tattooed man’s hand with the top layer if skin damaged by a minor kitchen burn sparked a heated debate on social media site Reddit last week. That’s because the section where the skin was burned off revealed a tattoo so bright you could swear it was just inked.

The photo, posted by Reddit user uhmodijia, reportedly shows the hand of a “friend of a friend” who had just suffered a minor burn which only affected the top layer of his skin, exposing the dermis. The man had a blue rose tattooed on his skin a while ago, and like all tattoos do in time, it had started to fade. However, the patch of burned skin that had peeled off because of the burn revealed a much more vibrant copy of the same tattoo on his dermis. Apparently, tattoo guns reach deep into the skin, and while the tattoos on the first layer begin to fade just months after they’ve been inked due to multiple factors, they remain vibrant under this first layer of protective skin.
