Vijay Mallya, the chairman of United Breweries Group, has always been one of India’s most flamboyant tycoons, but in 2010, when he announced plans to have a mansion modelled after the White House built atop a luxury skyscraper in Bangalore, people thought it was too much, even for him. He didn’t let that deter him from building his dream home, and by 2016, his mansion atop Kingfisher Tower in the heart of Bangalore City was taking shape. As part of a global effort to find a vaccine for the Covid-19 coronavirus, pharmaceutical companies are offering thousands of dollars to people willing to voluntarily get infected with a form of the virus and spend two weeks in isolation.

Being the first to come up with an effective vaccine for Covid-19 would undoubtedly prove very profitable for any pharmaceutical company, and many are spending big money to increase their chances of success. For example, several companies as well as public sector organizations have reportedly begun offering volunteers up to $4,500 to get infected with a form of the highly-contagious coronavirus to aid the search for a vaccine. It’s a tempting offer, especially for young, healthy and cash-strapped individuals, but there is a catch – they will be banned from contact with the outside world for at least two weeks.

Televangelist Ordered to Stop Peddling Unproven Cure for Covid-19

A popular televangelist was recently issued a cease and desist order by the New York attorney general to stop promoting his cure-all product as a cure for the highly-contagious Covid-19 coronavirus strain.

The last thing you would expect a holy man to do is promote a fake cure against a potentially deadly disease to desperate people for profit, and yet, that’s allegedly exactly what Rev. Jim Bakker has been doing. To be fair, Bakker had long been peddling his “Silver Solution” – a scientifically unproven medication made from the precious metal – as a cure for all sorts of ailments, but when he included the rapidly-spreading Covid-19 coronavirus strain to the list of curable diseases, authorities stepped in.

Two years ago, however, Lhouraii Li decided that a bright blue skin complexion fitted her personality much better, so she started dying her face and hands blue almost every day.

CoronaCoin, a Cryptocurrency That Goes Up in Value the Worst the Covid-19 Epidemic Gets

A group of developers have created a controversial cryptocurrency that tracks the spread of the Covid-19 virus and goes up in value as the number of infections goes up and more fatalities are registered as a result.

CoronaCoin (NCOV), a new token built on the Etherium blockchain, was created by a team of programmers and activists on 4Chan, the controversial online forum that gave the world the hacker collective Anonymous, among other things. The original supply of CoronaCoin was based on the total human population at the time of the token’s inception, 7,604,953,650, but every 48 hours the token is burned to reduce supply according to the official number of coronavirus infections and fatalities. The more people succumb to the virus, the more supply gets burned and the more valuable the remaining tokens become.

UK’s Most Opinionated Man Has Been Sending Angry Letters to Newspaper Every Day Since 1978

A Liverpool man has been penning letters complaining about various things and sending them to the Liverpool Echo newspaper every day for the last 42 years.

70-year-old Bernie Carroll can’t even remember what he complained to the local council about in his very first letter, back in 1978. That’s unsurprising, considering that it was the first of over 15,000 letters he sent over the years; it first started as a way to vent about the actions of the “militant council of the 1970s and 80s” in Liverpool, but once that was over with, he continued sending in letters complaining or offering suggestions about pretty much anything. For example, his most recent letters to the Liverpool Echo newspaper were about his frustrations at the constant fireworks in his neighborhood and dog poo bags being left on park railings.

Malaysian Couple Stun Wedding Guests with Splendid Chandelier Wedding Cake

Most of the guests at Malaysian actors Zahirah Macwilson and Aiman Hakim Redza’s wedding last Thursday were probably expecting something special, but none of them could predict an upside down wedding cake dropping from the ceiling.

I’m not sure how happy Zahirah and Aiman are about being upstaged by a cake at their own wedding, but that’s exactly what has happened ever since their big event, last Thursday. All everyone seems to talk about both on social media and on entertainment news sites is the gorgeous chandelier cake that was lowered down on a small stage for the couple to jointly slice. To be honest, it was quite an attention grabber, definitely one of the most impressive wedding cakes we’ve ever featured on OC.

Volkswagen’s Best Selling Product Isn’t a Car, It’s a Sausage

The Volkswagen Golf has historically been the German car maker’s best selling model, but surprisingly it’s not the company’s best selling product. That title goes to the uber popular and reportedly delicious VW sausage.

VW has been producing sausages at its car plant in Wolfsburg, Germany, for nearly 50 years. The traditional wurst is such an important part of the company culture and history that it even has its own car part code,  199 398 500 A. Sausage production at VW began in 1973, and was originally supplied exclusively to company cafeterias, to feed its staff. Over time, however, Volkswagen started selling its sausages at stadiums and in German stores, and people loved them. It’s said that because the wurst was originally created for company staff, it is of the very best quality, and it has actually won several awards at national food fairs and exhibitions over the years.
